When feeling fed up about how insanely expensive rural property has become in the last few years it’s always good to remember that it was only a little over a century ago that Stonehenge, plus its accompanying 6400 acres, sold for £6,600 to a private buyer via an advert in Country Life Magazine.

The Albo government's antisemitism bill is a rushed hatchet job. Nobody has proper time to consider it carefully enough, and it will have all sorts of unintended consequences if passed. It is the worst kind of law-making: moral panic induced, pandering to powerful lobby groups' demands.

In Albo's new antisemitism bill, the definition of "hate crime", which underpins the new regime to proscribe "hate groups" like the Nazis, specifically excludes "advocating genocide". That is, advocating genocide is treated as not being a racist hate crime. Now, why would that be?

How they killed Writers Week:
"Malinauskus was regularly agitating for Abdel-Fattah’s cancellation... Eventually, the board relented. They had seen what had happened at Bendigo, and they did it anyway."

People shouldn't be sad that Adelaide Writers Week was cancelled, they should be proud that the people the event was actually about stood together and said "enough of this perfidious bullshit".

A disaster for our writers, readers, our reputation as a festival state & a massive economic blow to SA in a tough time for so many. Own goal for a Premier who - despite his denials - exerted pressure on a body legally established to be independent. Shocking failure of judgement.

Yes we are aware of what Premier Malinauskas said about Randa Abdel-Fattah today and no we don't think it's ok for a public official to talk about a private citizen in such terms.

My information is that this is an out and out lie.

It's extraordinary that the SA Premier sees no problem trashing the reputation of one of the few organisations in his state that is internationally celebrated as a leader in its field.
