I thought Greenland was green!

Trying it out here.
It is a feature, not a bug, of rightwing politics to blame all problems on their enemies, doubly so for the problems they created themselves. And to say that they alone can be trusted with the power to "fix it" i.e. punish their enemies

Just say something about boomers and millennials. They'll tell you all about "actually gen X...."

My car already has an Internet connection for computer updates, or if I want to pay for remote start from my phone. If they're going to put all this tech in our cars without informed consent, at least let it help keep us safer

I mean my cruise control does that now. If traffic slows down in front of me it automatically reduces my speed to match. Also, I think most people view driverless cars as where the driver doesn't need to concentrate on driving safely.

Besides being well written, I think shows like SG-1 and DS9 work well because they have plenty of bottle episodes each season. Gives viewers a break from the heavy story, and new viewers don't feel lost in the story immediately

What debate? Who's the opponent?

Do you want more public transit?
Do you think we realistically cannot get rid of cars?

Then we agree on those two points. But I felt every time I mentioned specific changes that could lead to improvements you "um ackually"d me and called me a troll

Throwing insults at anyone who doesn't 100% agree with you might be considered arguing in bad faith?

Why is it absolutes? No one said that, it's just an example of one situation.

If you want to continue this convo, feel free to DM me. I don't think it's fair to everyone else's feed. I'm sure the OP muted this a long time ago

Why can't we imagine a better world? Why do houses need driveways? Because everyone has a car right now. But look at requirements for parking with new buildings, I've recently seen a study where removing that req improved traffic and land use. Maybe similar policies can do good elsewhere

Mentioning bikes is not to the exclusion of wheel chair accessibility.

Nor am I suggesting people that need trucks for their jobs should have to take transit. Why must it be all one way or another?

I think we all want more transit, right? And we all don't want to eliminate the car, right?
December 7, 2025 at 6:04 PM
I was addressing the in-between space a lot of car people live in. If we had robust public transit, I would no longer be a car person, I would be a multimodal user, as would millions of drivers.

And I didn't like the absolute comment earlier saying we couldn't do this because of "reality."
December 7, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Let's start over

There were multiple arguments - can't get rid of cars, public transit should be free and more of it. And anti car people act superior. I may be missing one, not sure.

I agree with the first 2.

The last one is an opinion based on misunderstanding I think.

What's bad faith about my comment above?

The other comment I made was certainly snarky, but the person basically said we couldn't have better public transit because of the current reality. Sarcasm is not bad faith.
December 7, 2025 at 5:46 PM
Never said that we'd eliminate cars. But we could do car shares, short term rentals - similar to how ebikes work in some cities.

Good public transit is not the elimination of cars, it's about people feeling they can choose
