Space is a harsh environment: it's a vacuum with freezing temperatures, super high ultraviolet radiation and, of course, almost no oxygen. But Japanese researchers have found a type of moss that doesn...

I love this quiet little spot on the trail today. Not only a double waterfall, a peaceful little pond (with baby trout swimming around) and also—when the light hits just right—ripples reflect the sun on the stone above in hypnotic patterns.

I sit here for a long while. #Hiking #NewYork

My favorite spot on the trail today, this hypnotic #waterfall pond. The light reflecting ripples on the rock wall above—so pretty. I’ll post another video of it from a different angle.

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

Walking through #Greenwood cemetery today in NYC. Look at this sweet pup! So amazing. They buried the family dog with them. People leave sticks at the gravesite. #DogSky

Zohran mentioned trans people in his acceptance speech last night—specifically wanted trans people to feel welcome and loved.

How amazing is that?

HOW AMAZING IS THAT. How I hope this becomes the norm.

RESEARCH: not just green space, but *biodiverse* green space keeps us healthy.

Find these spaces in your city, or make them! NYC actually hands out free native seeds to spread in urban tree wells, and undeveloped lots. 💚

Trying out #coconut shell bowls today for my packed lunch on the hike (a homemade Buddha bowl). It worked well! Lightweight and strong.

Why, you ask? 🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥

Stainless steel bowls are heavy, #titanium bowls expensive, #aluminum is questionably toxic and I’m removing all #plastics from my life.

A LEGO #MRI set to help kids though a traumatic medical experience. 😭🥹
I had some early childhood medical trauma that still haunts me today. This would have helped. Kids are strong if we give them tools to understand.

This might be their birthing pond—the rains will come soon and they’ll be racing downhill toward the larger Ramapo River and Passaic. #Hiking #NewYork
