Im a sculptor living in St Louis. I use a lot of cardboard and other under appreciated materials to create taxidermy style art pieces. You can find my work at Houska Gallery here in STL or contact me directly for current available pieces or commissions.

I know how it’s pronounced. But if I don’t say magazine in my head before, I say it like vine.

Hi #PortfolioDay! I'm Alexandra, an artist, designer, cartoonist and science communicator! I am currently looking for both representation for my illustration and comic work as well as design work for comics or cover art!

Get in touch: www.alexandragallant.com
abstract illustration of consciousness - neurons floating in space, with interconnecting and branching tendrils and sparks An illustration - a bunch of overlapping veins and arteries with different translucent organs interspersed throughout the illustration, the effect is a tangled web of branching vessels with various 'organ' shapes overlaying on top, including a lung in the center of the page colorful illustration of a dozen toucans on a soft sea foamy green background
Two pages from a comic I'm working on

Page 1 is a single panel

'It can feel like plucking fruit off a tree... and seeing what's inside'
Illustration of a branch of a tree with peaches on it, and a cross section of a peach, instead of a pit, there is a brain

Page 2 is 4 panels

Panel 1: "...and sometimes" text over an illustration of a peach
Panel 2: "it's a pit" (cross section of a peach, with the pit visible)
Panel 3: "or a worm" (a fruit with a worm poking out of it)
Panel 4: "but sometimes... it's a universe" the brain/pit in the peach from the previous page is zoomed in and now has rings around it like a planet in space

#portfolioday is amongst us once more! Here are some goodies.
A cardboard wish Dragon I am currently working on for The Magic House Children’s Museum This is me beside my Csrdboard trex I made for the Worlf Chess Hall of Fame. I came back and did a talk and a craft with the public. This is Frida Kahlo portrait made of 2961 1” circles cut from recycled aluminum soda cans. This a alargue group of cardboard animal sculptures made to look like blue and white porcelain. This was at Houska Gallery in STL.

Oh hello #Portfolioday! Here’s some of the stuff I’ve done:
Digital drawing of a winged veiled woman using one of its wings to partially cover a horned child from the light above them both. Shades of brown hints of teal. Digital painting base on a sculpture angel by Lorenzo Bernini bastardized. The head of the angel is now two blooming flowers obscured by a sketchy pink neon skull, complete with horns and halo. The background is textured with a non repeating pattern resembling a script. Digital portrait of a masked woman. Tones of pink, grey and yellow. Large coiled snake bares its fangs in the foreground. Digital drawing of a white barn own standing on a plinth with a mutated mouse in its talons

Like a serpent type wyrm here’s the head piece.

Yeh… tbh I loathe this project at this point. It’s taking way longer than I had imagined but luckily I’ll make the same decision soon on a future project. Haha

Yes. Getting ready to do a coat of dark primer and dry brush for the silver.

The kiddo has long blonde hair so that works for the Marvel version.

Have you ever had a pummelo?

#citrus #pummelo
A pummelo cut in half on a cutting board
justinkingdesigns.bsky.social
Yeh that’s the issue. It’s already in my tummy. So then you have to decide whether you’re going to stealthily replace said candy or admittance.

Kid needed a Thor helmet. First time playing with EVA. Bought a template from
Black Sheep Props. I’ve followed most of the instruction but have gone off script a bit. Fun material.

I got some Halloween Candy early and my wife asked that I hide it so as to not tempt her but I had to confess to her this evening that it turns out, I too will need someone to hide the Halloween candy.

That would solve the problem but Lynda, I’m doubling down on my laziness here.

I’m aware that there’s a lot going on and maybe that’s why it does feel like “the worst” but when I try to open the quick “tear here” on a bag of shredded cheese and it tears wrong and I can’t get into the bag with out scissors, it’s… you know it’s ok.. this was unintentionally therapeutic.

One of the gifts from Kentucky. Sorry about Mitch.
