For those who are curious (none of you), we pretended to be lizards, giraffes, iguanas, African painted dogs, crows, eagles, cats, chickens, songbirds, dragonflies, grasshoppers, caterpillars AND butterflies (including a chrysalis stage), and then of course raccoons
Last night we pretended to be at least 20 different species while we were hanging out in the living room, and I was sitting on the floor when my daughter said RACCOONS so imagine my surprise when I turned around and actually saw a raccoon looking at me through the window

“Just making sure everyone’s safe.”
“Here to support the youth, so happy to see them engaged.”
“Not sure about this ICE business. Bad for the neighborhood.”

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

“Schoolteacher, sharpshooter, and anarchist” is such a great combo.
#OtD 23 Nov 1913 Margarita Ortega, a Mexican schoolteacher, sharpshooter and anarchist, was executed by the government of Victoriano Huerta. She had endured four days of torture, but refused to name any of her comrades stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9596...

As an anarchist with principals I have no problem walking away from Chomsky over this. Don't put people on pedestals and they won't crush you when they invariably fall off them.

Hey men-types with atypical genitalia: I’m really sorry the world is hyper-focused on the idea that Hitler, Musk, Trump, Epstein, and Ailes all have some sort of “weird” dick or micro-penis.

It’s fucking gross, and not for the reasons all the clickbaiters think.

Do hiring directors/teams ALWAYS call your references? Do they sometimes skip that step?

I’ve made it to final candidate status a few times now and my references haven’t mentioned any contact.

Anatomical differences are a fact of nature, not a punchline or a smoking gun.

Let it fucking go before you start sounding like a goddamn eugenicist yourself.

Paging Dr. Frankenstein, btw.
People aren’t monsters because of their bodies.

They are monsters because of their choices that hurt others. Because of the systems that empower them and the beliefs that compel them.

Trees: the original plastic
Sharks are older than ALL trees.

Also, when trees first evolved the substance called lignin which gives wood its stiffness had no bacteria which could break it down, and dead trees could remain standing for eons.

Got this on a lark out of pure horror and curiosity. Wasn’t planning on reading it to the kids but the oldest found it anyway and I spent ten minutes on “F is for Facehugger” trying to explain it in a non-terrifying way.

Give me album recommendations. Any or all:

Easy: any album you recommend from any artist

Medium: it was released pre-2000

Hard: its not a mainstream/well-known album, even if the artist is

I'll listen to them at work!
