Frederick Murphy responded to Florida AG Uthmeier insisting that Winter Haven enforce the state's camping ban.

Murphy countered the statements of the AG by saying public spaces are available for everyone, "regardless of socio-economic status".

Alan and his wife, Senior US District Judge Patricia Seitz, have been supporters of our work and have done so much with their own time to help people who are unhoused.

A new article by the Tampa Bay Times reveals that hundreds of people in Florida DOC prisons were delayed from getting necessary eye surgery.

We’re suing on behalf of the people who were denied this care.

In 2024, FJI and the Southern Legal Counsel sued St. Johns County over its anti-panhandling ordinance.

That lawsuit has helped to keep other counties and cities from enforcing similar laws.

#OTD in 1965 the 13th Amendment ended slavery, but with a loophole; slavery was allowed as punishment for a crime. This marked the beginning of mass incarceration and the systemic oppression of Black people that persists today. Understanding this history is crucial to dismantling the system.
