Jangly guitars. Schmaltzy sci-fi. Adequate jokes.
I mean, nothing’s topping HELLBOY II.

On the subject of cinematography, everyone involved in this shot deserves an Oscar.

The coolest part of this movie is crooked characters realizing they're not *that* crooked. The moral grayness of Cage's character feels as rare now as it did in 1998. #FThisMovieFest

I'm not sure Cage's character is living *the* life, but he's certainly living *a* life. #FThisMovieFest

Real curious to revisit SNAKE EYES, which I remember as a "good but not great" thriller that inexplicably got one-starred by most critics. One of the first times I recall critics seeming to be out for blood. #FThisMovieFest

The nice thing about multiple personalities is you only need one megaphone when having a staged conversation you want someone to hear 300 feet away. #FThisMovieFest

I' ll do my best to be nice to our host,
@patrickbromley.bsky.social, but I'm absolutely flummoxed by this movie. Not because it's a line-for-line, shot-for-shot remake of a classic, but because it's 95% that, with the other 5% being laughable additions to secure an R-rating. #FThisMovieFest

Every time I watch the funeral home scene now, I think of my dad, who could've afforded any ceremony or "receptacle" you could want, but declined everything he could in advance 'cause the whole thing's a racket. #FThisMovieFest

The UZI was a big laugh. This is one of the hardest laughs I've ever had. #FThisMovieFest

Few people have funny baked into them like John Turturro. #FThisMovieFest

Every time I watch this movie, I appreciate Steve Buscemi more, being this guy who's so perfectly sweet and so obliviously annoying. #FThisMovieFest

I get a four-alarm hangover just watching this movie.

This will be one of the weirder #FThisMovieFest watches. It's one of the most quotable movies of all time. It's flat-out gorgeous, shot by quite possibly the greatest cinematographer to date. And it's a movie deliberately about nothing.

So, what do you say? Besides feel free to quote away.

Bad Patrick Stewart impression: "Jean, it's Professor Xavier. I've just made some improvements to Cerebro AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!" #FThisMovieFest

Really something that this movie was playing side-by-side in theaters with SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. #FThisMovieFest

Kirsten Dunst has more agency and self-determination in this movie than all three SPIDER-MANs combined. #FThisMovieFest
