Germany improved to 20th place. Which just gues to show that people actually start to like you if you refrain from waging war on all your neighbors every few decades.

Also I wonder whether it makes a difference to finlands reputation if you ask the question in summer (mosquitos) or winter (sauna).
According to this ranking, Canada’s reputation has improved since 2024. We are now the 2nd most reputable country in the world.

The United States has dropped from 30th to 48th in that same year, the biggest drop of any nation BY FAR. Its reputation-peers are now Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan…

This is your periodical reminder that the projected warming due to climate change practically always refers to the year 2100. The full temperature increase will likely be higher.

At #COP30, people will claim something like we avoided a truly apocalyptic amount of warming. This is probably not true.

Reaching up above the ground, a creepy fungi to be found.

Happy Halloween everyone.

I agree, this is something researchers urgently need to answer!
Consider yourself an academic? But where is your hat with tassel, the hair worn in a plait, the spotted suit and checked tights, like this fella from 1773 - called: the Academic Mac - is wearing? #academicchatter

Okay so as promised... let's go through this paper and why it matters 🧵

I will try to do a tweetorial about this paper when I have more energy but this is really important data. It looks (tentatively, preliminarily) that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines might significantly enhance the effectiveness of cancer immunotherapy (subject to many caveats).
SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines sensitize tumours to immune checkpoint blockade
Nature - mRNA vaccines targeting SARS-CoV-2 also sensitize tumours to immune checkpoint inhibitors.

So much of "cancel culture" discourse is a re-description of the normal functioning of a democracy and public discourse by people who didn't like the results of one, or both, or how it made them feel.
Saying that someone doesn’t deserve to be a senator isn’t canceling them, that is the public opinion candidates are subject to in a democracy.

Recycling concrete is actually a thing: gravel from recycled concrete.
October 27, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Visiting a gravel production area near Erfurt. The gravel is dug up, cleaned and directly processed into concrete here. Kilometer-long conveyor belts transport the gravel to the central processing hub.
It's about 12 m of gravel, so it's much less impressive than other open pit mines.

Everybody talks about raw materials these days. Mostly about rare earth elements. But there are many less glamorous, but equally important resources. In the next days, I will visit sites in thuringia where sand, gravel and salt are produced, among others. I love it! 😀
