Surprisingly many people (and a dog!) showed up for the rephotography walk yesterday. Very happy to see how interested and enthusiastic people were. Most of them wanted to push on after the cold and windy stop at the tower - and we were rewarded with beautiful weather on the last bit of the walk.

We will also launch the field guide to historical rephotography and a set of cards that can be used to get started.

An evening listening to vinyl records. Had found a used copy of Neil Young’s Sleeps With Angels from 1994 and it sounds fabulous. A magical album.

Today: not a day of rest, sadly, but I took the time to go downtown for some errands and for some light writing with coffee in front of the fireplace at Kokko.

Half-day of home office work after campus meetings in the morning, tweaking text and writing project summaries for a major grant proposal. All while listening to vinyl records such as this beauty - Low’s Things We Lost in the Fire. The weekend is almost here.

Sent our field guide to historical rephotography to the printer two minutes before I had to leave work. Such fun to illustrate it with collage! But heckin' lot of work too. Still, really pleased with the result. Hope the print comes out well! #digifren #envhist #envhum

On 16 November, we are organizing a rephotography walk in Sørmarka to mark the approaching end of the #DigiFREN project and to launch a package of educational materials on historical rephotography. All are welcome! #envhist #envhum #photography

This is why you should use sunscreen, folks. The display copy of Silver Linings at the Stavanger Art Museum has a distinctly different color profile than the other copies.

So happy to see our «miljøfortellinger fra Japan» risograph publication in the Climate Emergency Reading Room at the Stavanger Art Museum. @melinabuns.bsky.social and Benjamin Hickethier did a fantastic job on this one.

Time for Finnish smoke sauna. I’m about to be very cold and very hot, back and forth, for a few hours. What a way to start a week of #energylives fieldwork!

Winter time is here. I’m one of the seemingly rare people who like the time change, both in the spring and in the fall.

Self portrait of the author on a Friday afternoon as a very exhausted man after several intense weeks. Months, actually.

TGIF with 150 new bird cards for Wingspan waiting for me in the mailbox. Just finished the most intense student assignment feedback period of my entire career. I failed almost all of them and had to give good instructions on how to improve the assignment to pass. In essence: read the instructions.

The mornings are getting darker and darker, but there’s still some good light before sunrise.

Listening to Susan Schuppli’s Ice Records, which @dollyjorgensen.bsky.social brought home from The Wellcome earlier this week. Very cool. Pun intended. susanschuppli.com/ICE-RECORDS-1

We had a fun couple of hours prototyping the field guide on historical rephotography that we’re making for the #digifren project, drawing on postdoc Malin’s high school training in arts and design and the Layers of Time collage workshop I attended with Yannick Lowery in Philly last October.

After eight months (!), the @greenhouseuis.net Library wall that was opened up for repairs has been closed again! Time to find space on the shelves for these new (mostly) #envhum #envhist publications.
