How does prospective mining on the Moon mirror prior forms of extractivism on Earth?

In July, I visited the Blåfjell and Tellnes Mines near #MagmaGeopark in Southwest Norway to collect video materials and talk with local experts about mining heritage.

Glad it worked out! The event looks cool, though the odds of me being in Leipzig for it next week are rather slim. Hope it goes well!

Yaaay! I have faith in you!

Thanks for the thoughtful review, Lena - I really appreciate it! This book had a long journey to completion, from a workshop in Shanghai through the pandemic lockdowns to finally finding a home with @upittpress.bsky.social! I'm proud of the result and the bear on the cover makes me happy every time!

It was a pleasure to review this wonderful collection for the latest issue of Technology and Culture. Thanks to all the authors for their contributions and to @finnarne.me @dollyjorgensen.bsky.social for drawing such an interesting group of scholars together!

We took a really nice sensory walk around the Belval campus today, on a gorgeous fall day. Thanks to all who came! #shot2025 #energylives

That looks excellent, I wouldn't mind one of those right now.

The first paper is actually co-authored by Anna Åberg (who presented it), Joel Löw, and Bengt Sandin, sorry about missing the first line in the program. A very good session, and first I’ve been to here that was packed - we ran out of chairs for people!

Mine were on the original Atlantic list, but are not on the settlement list.

Make sure to bring a lunch. We won’t start discussing until 13:15 or so, to give people time. #shot2025

Second, a lunchtime session from 12:55-14:10, on «Sensory walking as history of technology method». See our posters by the registration desk, walk around campus on your own using our prompts (on handouts), and come to the session to discuss walking methodologies! #shot2025
Two posters on a wall. One has a map of campus, the other a description of the session «Sensory walking as history of technology method».

We have two sessions organized by the #energylives project today. First, from 11:35-12:50 in room 3.230, «Energy (In)Justices: Social and Cultural Perspectives on the Use(rs) of Heating Technologies», with papers from Bengt Sandin, Damiana Salm, Bue Poulsgaard et al, and Odinn Melsted. #shot2025

Last day of #shot2025! I must admit that I’ve developed a slight case of campus envy while here in Belval.

The two main rules of any academic event: give people good food and time to talk with each other. Presentations are secondary.

That’s me. Talking about how Joy has influenced me as a historian. And how that this really led to our current #energylives project. I don’t think it’s wrong to think of the project as a tribute to Joy.

I have to say, the #shot2025 program is designed as if bodies didn’t exist. No space between sessions, no time to eat, sessions can’t start on time because the rooms are still full of people from previous sessions still going on, overtime.

Hahahah, yes, this is an age-old problem, we had it on Twitter in the good old days too.
