As I gear up to add Linux/server docs to the @linodians.com website, I've been trying to figure out how that might look. Here's my thoughts: discuss.linodians.com/t/thinking-a...

Thinking about Docs Structure
Here’s what I’m thinking for structuring the Docs section of the website. Docs itself will be divided into a couple of subsections. So far I have two: Docs Guides References In Guides, it will be ...

I've received my first @hacktoberfest.com t-shirt in years. While @digitalocean.com and @mlhacks.bsky.social are for-profit companies, that doesn’t negate the fact that #Hacktoberfest energizes the open-source community, particularly among younger contributors.

Do you self-host software such as web servers, Nextcloud, Jellyfin, Home Assistant, etc? What operation system(s) do you run?

It's been awhile due to my falling out with snaps, but I have updated my `scc` snap for the first time in years.

Internally, it's not using modern snap features but more importantly, it now supports the latest `scc` release as well as ARM CPUs.

How I feel about AI.

Everyone wants to keep talking about new shinny hammers. I want to talk about driving nails. We have homes to build people.

I've tried to price some mini home servers for a #HomeLab a few times now. This time I decided to track it in a Google Sheet and share it in case anyone was curious. Let me know if you'd like to see something added: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

I've always been a fan of @mozilla.org's MDN web docs. It's such a great learning and reference resource for web devs. I would love for @linodians.com to one day serve that role for #networking / #SysAdmin / #HomeLab stuff.

I'm a huge advocate of RSS feeds but their use is fading into obscurity. When I discovered JSON Feed I was ecstatic but the project has languished. Today I'm finally doing something about it.

Bluesky's "Starter Packs" might be coming to Mastodon? Everything seems to need a lot more thought before implementing in the Fediverse but once features with consensus land, they tend to be pretty cool.

My Pocket Casts for Linux app has been updated to v0.11.0. No major changes. Just dependency updates to make sure it stays secure and away from EOL software.
