Between 2003 and 2007 I took a Sociology class I can't remember the name of. We did a section on propaganda and I described some of the election campaign ads of the 1980s as "Fear Koans." I adopt that as a moniker today, because "fourthestweet" doesn't work the same way here that it did ""there.""

That’s tough, not because there have been so many-though there have been so many, but because we miss them all for different reasons. Some stories feel incomplete. Some you want to visit again, just to check in… I’ll say Snowbird my Kenku monk since he got disintegrated by a lich.

When I read the words “folkloric vampire” I often roll my eyes. But, Eggers’ Nosferatu actually delivers on that promise. It presents a much more gothic weird fiction take than the usual “explode into bats” supernatural “powerz” we’re used to seeing. Unnatural horror, not supernatural.

It should be. It won’t be. Charlie Kirk Memorial Gun Law does have a nice ring to it though. It just isn’t going to happen. The right started investing fear futures long ago and they’re the only ones buying anymore. Ironically, an unsustainable economy.
What should be asked of every right-wing showboat losing their mind over Kirk's death is "What the fuck are you gonna do to prevent it from happening again?"

I’ll not shed a single solitary tear for him. But, my heart goes out to his family. A wife and two children. Presumably parents as he was only 31? His family now have to pick up pieces no one should have to pick up. That’s the tragedy.

Ghislaine Maxwell , who was convicted of trafficking children for rape - met with top DOJ leadership and days later was moved to a cushy, fence-free camp. She facilitated and participated in monstrous crimes against children. That she’s being rewarded instead of buried under a prison is obscene.

What I'm learning as I get older is that Star Trek, X-Men, Star Wars, Superman were all way to subtle in their messaging. Star Trek was "woke." X-Men was "woke." I don't know how the anti-fascist message of Star Wars is not clear. Superman is an immigrant. Supes was explicitly an infant refugee.

11? Those are rookie numbers. I kid. Sharing the weird dice is a simple but important way to help people try TTRPGs!
A friend told me he didn't have any D&D dice for the game we were starting up, and I was like, I may have a set or two to loan you until you figure out what's right for your hero, and I went to my gaming hutch and pulled out 11 full sets of D&D dice that I bought in the past for emergencies.
