Reluctant iOS and Windows 11 user. I don't know what I'll be primarily posting here, but I work in Higher Ed IT and I vague post? Also, #TTRPG #TTRPGCommunity #Beekeeping #3DPrinting #6FootHalfling #Beer ?? Resist. Defy. Ally. 🏴‍☠️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
Everything has a grimdark noir gritty “ “ realistic “ “ iteration and I’m just not here for it. Give me hope whimsy and weird please.

As a GM I’ve had to remind a player that it’s essentially a co op or team game. I like complex motivations and enjoy helping them find that. It’s usually figured out by session 2.

That PC has been mine a couple times. The usual solution is either I think of the group as adopted siblings & I go along because “someone has to keep them out of trouble” or without being disruptive I play it like (gif) I believe that’s been my angle in a couple of Shadowrun games. That and hunger.

I frequently use combinations of elements from the influences. For instance, a character inspired by King Arthur and Robin Hood might be Robin Pendragon. Unique character elements can work too. Sidewinder was inspired by the character’s background. Snowbird arrived an orphan in a blizzard.

Doesn’t matter. As long as they’re being rolled in pairs. My preference is for 2d6, but I’m poly agnostic.

And I’m right about the White Tiger/Odin line more often than I’m not. Sure. There are other plays, but that’s the one I see the most.

Every fandom has its toxic elements. Every fandom is somebody’s red flag. I don’t play with toxic people more than once. Full stop. I’ve got zero tolerance for shit these days. I was a TTRPG and world building nerd by my self for years. No problem being one again.

Anyway, I’m rambling. I think you’ll pick up what I’m putting down.

The other doesn’t. Archetypically they’re both “thieves.” Which might be fine if it was the same class and different builds. D&D runs into problems of niche protection with Jack of all trades classes like the Bard and multi classing too. 5e there’s one class options for the fighter/mage & thief/mage

Depends on what’s meant by party balance. I like the term niche protection myself. Everyone should feel like a specialist in their field. If the rogue(3e) feels outshined by the scout(3.5e) then you’re going to have some one having less fun. That’s a “balance” issue. ie one class has advantages…

Anytime a “horror” movie raises my expectations for the genre, it’s worth noting.
