After the Hockey Canada verdict, you might be wondering what now. I wrote in the @thestar.com about the importance of us all being BRAVE, like the 13-year-old boys who held my disclosure of being sexually assaulted with such care. Learn more at the link in my bio. #hockeyCanada #BRAVEmodel #SA
What we can all do now after the Hockey Canada verdict: Be BRAVE
How we respond to disclosures of sexual abuse can profoundly impact a survivor’s healing, including whether it feels safe to tell.

The loss of Virginia Guiffre really hurts. Sometimes survivors ultimately don’t survive, and so many people forget or never even realize how much harder trauma makes absolutely everything, including healing from other physical trauma and all the emotional wounds that always heal so slow.

In Ontario, 62 women & children were killed by men this year—more than one per week. Yet the provincial govt refuses to call intimate partner violence what it is: an epidemic.

We can’t end what we won’t name. #Thread

Today would be a good day to donate to your local violence against women shelter, or sexual assault centre. Don't have the money - volunteer, spread the word about their work, take training, and write to your local govt demanding sustainable funding for these life-saving services. #December6 #IPV

Today is #December6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

In 1989, 13 women studying engineering and one woman working at l'École Polytechnique were murdered in a deliberate act of misogyny and anti-feminist hate.

First, we mourn, then we take action. #16Days

Annual reminder on #December6, the anniversary of the École Polytechnique massacre.

The 14 women were not murdered "simply because they were women." Their deaths were a deliberate, violent act fueled by misogyny and anti-feminist hate. NAME IT.
