Just finished M.A. Carrick's The Liar's Knot after devouring The Mask of Mirrors. Took notes on the first, didn't for the second, but will write up some lingering thoughts for both books before I delve into the third book Labyrinth's Heart. Then, it's A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher.

Neighbor admiring my witchy wreath: "Oh nice! Getting ready for Halloween?"

Me, nodding, knowing damn well my house is witch-core year-round: "Yeah, we just really love Halloween."

As a DM and therapy group practitioner, yeah. This one checks out. The rule of thumb I've learned is: Shoot for 8 members, plan for 6, expect 4, then maybe have 3 solid members by the last four sessions.

Just finished The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick and I'm disappointed that I don't wear surcoats (or kirtles) nearly enough in my day-to-day. They seem like they would be comfy yet elegant. Anyone handy with a sewing machine want to teach me a few pointers?

TIL that 69% of the DSM-5 task force members (ie the people who developed the manual) had ties to the pharmaceutical industry. But don't worry: the APA made those people sign a disclosure form in the name of "transparency", so problem solved, right? Um.... about that.

I made the decision to cut ties with insurance beginning this year when I did the math and realized it was COSTING my business more money to accept insurance than go self-pay. Boosting this blog so everyone can see the insurance shitshow for what it is: a late-stage capitalist hellscape

It's worth remembering that it's only a minority of fascism-loving weirdos that are dominating the headlines. The majority of us want the same things: lower cost of living, subsidized healthcare for all, and the news cycle to be boring again. #ourrevolution

So, the average cost of a dozen eggs in the US is $4.25. A strain of avian flu wiped out many of our feathered friends back in December and early January. I tell you this so you know my pain when the "cheapest" store brand carton of dozen eggs at my local grocery store here in socal is...$11.99.

Ok so hear me out: any current or former marching band members near the Kennedy Center day of the performance must show up impeccably dressed in tuxes and play Benny Hill.
🚨 DISGRACE 🚨

Steve Bannon just announced that he spoke with Ric Grenell and the J6 Choir will soon perform at the Kennedy Center.

Yes, you read that right—insurrectionists getting a stage at one of the nation's premier cultural institutions.

This is beyond unacceptable.

Agreed. It's easy to shoulder all of the burdens of the world in American society, what with all the focus on self-reliance as a virtue and ideal; BUT we don't have to because we have each other. Rest when you need to rest.
As we all near the end of the first month of the Fourth Reich, think about this today. Take the time you need for you. Catch your breath. Just remember to join back in when you can. 🩵💙🩵💙

How to apply Radical Acceptance during these highly stressful times: Step 1 - Be ANGRY. Step 2 - Don't fight your anger. It's working as it should. Step 3 - Redirect your anger to doing the right thing that others won't or can't do. Optional Step 4: Cuss every step of the way, then have a lie down.

The price tag for this cruelty? $17.5 million
Louisiana coerced unhoused people into an unheated warehouse – and paid $17.5m for it

In case we start hearing the media say that protests don't change anything, let's take a moment to remember those who did it before - and changed things.
