This is one of my favorite youtube channels for one reason; we almost never get the cringe moment of the cook eating the food and performing enjoyment. They go in detail of the process of making the dish, then the last thing you see is just the dish
I actually learned how to do this from a snooty Italian cooking channel! youtu.be/DK3FC1cQPKg?...

Have ordered comrades book for my library andyou should too. Close reading is not the solution to our moment, but it is one of the only weapons we have left.

True tbh
I think it can also be easier to break norms when you read as traditionally masculine.

my father was 6’5, bearded, and broad shouldered and would sometimes wear pink shirts. I never even read this as subversive because he naturally came across as very masculine
1) genuine life changing moment of my early 20s was realizing I actually didn't have to do this at all. tell the youths

2) I feel like there's a class discussion to be had around the stakes of this kind of decision though

Essential essay by @iliasalami.bsky.social on new configurations of state ownership + state investment funds being deployed in the race for military, AI, and energy supply chain dominance. The trend rhymes with earlier eras of Great Power conflict but updated for a networked global economy.

Now that its sat a bit, one battle after another is terrible. Transposing a 70s US countercultural content onto a 90s/early 2000s filmic language may have worked, but it could never also survive window dressing it in contemporary US events/

My dear friend Steven Thrasher just released his 70-minute interview with Alice Wong. She shaped so much of his book, “The Viral Underclass”. Bless Steven, bless Alice Wong. Remember to lift each other up in life, too.

I am very grateful for things like the boston review, the lrb and laphams because they get brilliant people to write more accessible versions of their work which are truly a boon for interdisciplinary teaching. Feel like i’m cheating when i assign them as discussions go way better.
