I don't think "we" take them for granted. I think our respective governments take them granted and use them against us as a means of control. "We" are "if only people": If I only had........I'd be fine. Governments make sure you don't have anything and use it as a cudgel
I visited the People's History Museum in Manchester (UK) and left extremely impressed by what was on display. It focuses on Britain’s development over the past 200+ years through a working class lens, explaining how citizens fought for and won many of the rights that we take for granted today.
