I think it's worth repeating plainly that a federal judge halted Musk's federal funding freeze nearly two weeks ago but funds are still very much being frozen in violation of the court order.

for pity’s sake, I am BEGGING university leaders to stop framing this issue in terms of what this will cost the university. people dont care!

EXPLAIN WHAT THIS WILL COST THE PUBLIC: closed hospitals and clinics, skipped treatments, loss of access to experimental drugs, unemployment, recession

remember when everyone was up in arms about the toilet paper shortage and we saw a rise in bidet sales? I wonder if egg prices will inspire folks to go back to raising their own chickens at higher levels. A little less reliance on giant corporations is always nice.

Trump censoring not just what researchers can work on in the future, but also the publication of past research already completed.
BREAKING NEWS: CDC orders mass retraction and revision of submitted research across all science and medicine journals. Banned terms must be scrubbed.

Goes beyond MMWR +other CDC pubs. Applies to research already submitted to top medical journals.

Take a look.

People talk about “networking” but it’s really just making friends. When you jive with people because of shared passions and respect each others talents you find reasons to work together. (I’m a professional musician and haven’t done an audition in years, everything is through friends).
people over 30 quote this with some life advice for the rest of us?

Man, this collection of street vendors was one of my fave parts of MacArthur park. it brings the community out and the streets full, which you’d think would help deter crime. (Also you could score some sweet deals…)
“This feels like gentrification happening before us, and at the end of the day, the crime is still there, and the sale of illegal drugs is still there,” said Juan Rodriguez.

I am begging the national media to start taking this seriously.

Stop buying the claims that the framing of "temporary" or "pause."

They are altering the review processes of federally funded scientific research from merit-based peer review processes to political screening by ideologues.
NEW — OMB temporarily pauses all agency grants and loans programs.

Per copy of memo: "The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve."

If you’re in an institution doing any kind of DEI work, the most important thing to do right now is simply call it something else. Change it to “Community Outreach” & then keep on doing the same important work. When they outlaw Community Outreach rebrand it as “Strategic Partnerships,” rinse/repeat.

One fun (or terrifying) part of parenting is when your kids echo back to you what you unconsciously say to them. Today the kiddo wanted to race down the sidewalk and as he ran ahead he turned around and yelled “come on my love, you’re doing great!”

Backed by stats and thoughtful analysis, this article makes clear what should be obvious. The populace hasn’t moved further to the right, politicians have moved right and we don’t want to vote for them, so the left stayed home from the polls.
How did Kamala Harris lose to the most unpopular US president on record?

Winning wasn’t Harris’s primary concern; winning without the left and anti-war movement was.
