I don’t care about bits as far as there are between 8 and 16 of them…
Let there be sound!!
Sound finally added to my Rust port of my Atari 2600 emulator. Well… not perfect yet but a first version.
I couldn’t resist to let you enjoy those beautiful Space Invaders sound FX. That’s music to my ears… well… sort of.

First milestone reached for the Rust version of my Atari 2600 emulator: Pac-Man works flawlessly (and some other games as well). Next milestone besides fixing this ugly aspect ratio: Sound!

It’s been such a long time… Working again a bit on the Rust port of my Atari 2600 emulator. Still a long way to go but progress have been made 😊

The image is now scaled for better visibility. I used a « dirty » scaling filter to give some CRT vibes to the display. Now I need to iron out these bugs which prevent the emulator from running properly. Boring work ahead…

Porting my Atari 2600 emulator to Rust is quite a fun journey, but what a bumpy road. Doesn’t look great right now 😆

Don’t worry. I backed it up, it’s safe.

Well… #atari is launching a new console. A handheld one. Let’s wait for the #CES to know more about it, but that’s quite an exciting news already.

Now, it even starts to execute some instructions

Learning Rust has been an interesting journey so far. The port of my Atari 2600 emulator is still a long way to go but the 6507 starts to be able to decode instructions.

The kid in me was blown away by Conspiration on the Amstrad CPC. Digitized (yes it was a thing) graphics made me think we were close to photorealism… Great Ubi Soft game!

I recently acquired an Amstrad CPC6128, one of these « untested, sold as is » (yes, sure…). Of course it wasn’t working. When I opened it to troubleshoot, I quickly found out a 464 CRTC installed there with too much thermal paste… If you don’t know what you’re doing, please don’t open these machines

Winter Games by Epyx was such a stunning and state of the art game when I was a kid. Amazing graphics on the Amstrad CPC. I couldn’t wait to put my hands on it after its review in Tilt!

Here’s what #chatgpt visually thinks what my life is.
Not super comfortable with the T800 getting in the room though…

Operation Wolf is one of the last games I played on my Asmtrad CPC before selling it to switch to the Amiga. I was stunned by its graphics and solid mechanics back then.

While Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O is being announced, I still remeber one of the first fighting games that had a big impact on me: Yie Are Kung-Fu on the Amstrad CPC.

For an unknown reason, Gunfright on the Amstrad CPC is amongst these games that I still remember after all these years. Not the best game but there was something peculiar with this one.

While cleanîg up some files, I stumbled upon this old #zxspectrum 48k emulator I wrote almost 20 years ago in Java (!). I just compiled it and it runs! I need to do something with it sometimes.
