What sort of printer did you get?

Hope you have a speedy recovery, mate!

Where are you at these days?
August 29, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Really glad to see you made it through, mate. Welcome back!

Thank you, Lester. I think I needed this today. Yes, I feel the same. Always out of place.

Overkill is a damn fine song.

Which one?

Kind of, as they basically don't talk about geography.

I have something like 150-200 systems, and I can think of only ONE.

I *totally* get where you're coming from. I'm in the same boat, with respect to anxiety killing the desire to run a game.

Still, I'm in the process of working up a campaign setting for Dragonbane all the same, in the vague hope that I can get past my hangups.

No, you don't get it. I have no desire to design my own system, regardless of how long it is.

Not my jam, amigo :)

I don't know if these fit the bill, but they're written by a netfriend of mine: www.amazon.co.uk/The-Alastair...

They're about a mage, who's also a professor of Occult Studies at Stanford. Some horror themes.

And you can read them for free if you have Kindle Unlimited.

Cool that it's gaming stuff, but that takes all the mystery and surprise out of it!
July 13, 2025 at 1:06 PM
Well, if you get cool stuff, you'll have to post pictures so we can live vicariously through you :)

Somebody's sending you free stuff? We should all be so lucky!

But over the years since my son was born, those skills have atrophied. I don't know if I can get them back again. At least not without a LOT of stress.

30+ years ago, I used to run half a dozen or more sessions over a three day weekend convention. I've lost count of how many sessions I can at cons (including some at Gencon (twice even!) in the US, which isn't bad for an Australian).
July 13, 2025 at 11:41 AM
The other big one is anxiety. I don't want to run the way I used to: trying to preplan out everything and working out contingency plans for every occasion.

But I'm not confident enough to run a fully improvised session, either. That's my ultimate goal, but I don't know if I can.

The first is I don't have any players. Finding suitable players has always been a big problem for me. I'm big on character goals and proactive play, but most people aren't. (Somewhat related to this is I hate D&D with a passion, and most people learned their gaming habits from D&D).
