TTRPG pop quiz: how many RPG settings can you think of where the cold lands are in the south?

And before you say "but the cold lands are always in the north!", I would remind you that in Earth's southern hemisphere, it gets colder the further SOUTH you go, and it gets hotter to the north.

This classic Australian comedy is now on Amazon Prime. I once had to pause the video so a friend of mine could start breathing again, she was laughing so hard.

So Rob Morrow and Janine Turner have a podcast where they're going through all the episodes of Northern Exposure in order, and getting the other cast members as guests. Tonight they had Elaine Miles (who played Marilyn). She's an absolute delight. Best episode yet.

I'm seriously thinking about attempting a Dragonbane TTRPG campaign. It's a neat system, with loads of potential (even if a lot of the published stuff for it is very dungeoncrawly).

BUT: I probably won't.

There's two main reasons for this.

Earlier tonight, I learned that the whole season of Tales of the Gold Monkey is on YouTube. I hadn't seen that since it first aired over 40 years ago.

Just rewatched the pilot. Still quite amusing :)

Somewhere in the past hour, it went from "huh, there's a little bit of a mist forming" to "holy crap, this is a pea-souper that's swallowed the whole suburb across the road!".

And I managed to doze through the whole thing while waiting for my daughter's class to finish.

Does anyone know of a list of TTRPG people who post stuff other than buy my thing/back my kickstarter/watch my video on endless repeat?

I'm tired of the endless hustle.

On a whim, I used my Mum's old recipe to make a butterscotch scone roll this afternoon. First time in God knows how many years.

It's 3C outside right now, so it seems like it's good weather for an old fashion pea and ham soup, using my Mum's old recipe. Haven't made it in ages.

Apparently, in the intervening years, bacon bones are no longer a thing.

My daughter crocheted me a Cthulhu for my birthday :)

It's adorable :D

Remembering my friend Leath today. It would have been his 50th today, had he not passed away suddenly in 2022.

My daughter gave me this shirt for Christmas a couple of years ago. It amuses me how many comments I get on it from strangers, mostly about my age. I had two strangers comment on it today, while were waiting in a line :)

Oh man, I just found out that Starcadian was tragically killed in a road accident in NYC a few days ago. His music was one of my favourite pandemic discoveries, and I played the crap out of his albums for a long time.

RIP brother.

I'm loving the current eruption Kilauea's Halema`uma`u crater. The lava comes boiling up the lava tube to the vent in the crater, spills over the top for a little while, then subsides, and drains back down the tube out of sight again. Ten minutes later, the cycle repeats. It's fascinating to watch.

I'm very late to the party, but my daughter recently got me listening to "The Magnus Archives" podcast. I'm really enjoying them. The creepy vibe reminds me a lot of the stuff we used to aim for in horror TTRPGs back in the day.

There's something a little surreal about watching a live feed of the eruption of Kīlauea Volcano, Hawaii, while listening to some relaxing fingerstyle guitar (currently Maneli Jamal).
