I've been using this screen name for decades.

The current political climate is NOT HELPING.
Exact opposite of the message the Comey prosecution was supposed to send; instead of "Cross me and I'll make your life hell!" it's turning into "Cross me and I'll repeatedly trip over my own feet and land bare-ass-up in public! Just see if I won't!"
HUGE development IN hearing for Comey selective prosecution motion, It turns out that the grand jury NEVER saw the operative indictment. Whole separate basis for dismissal. Standby for more.

People confused by Trump's pivot on the Epstein vote confuse me--Trump literally cannot hold an L. He tried and failed to convince Boebert, etc, to flip. When he couldn't stop the vote from happening/passing, he HAD TO act like he was for it. The alternative would be admitting failure--unthinkable.

Every excerpt I see from the Nuzzi book reads like she vaguely remembers the whimsical romanticization in the Weetzie Bat books and is desperately trying to channel that vibe into her very boring story about the consequences of scrapping professional ethics because of her terrible taste in men.

I... really think the president is crashing out.

I don't know that his base will actually notice or care but.
Trump un-endorses Marjorie Taylor Greene

Schumer has to go at this point because he is bad at being a *leader of Democrats*. Two CRs in a row, the Senate caved when the base was nothing but primed to resist. He has failed to lead the Senate to a resolution the base likes, and he failed to prepare the base to accept the resolution he likes.

I got to use this to file my taxes this year, and it was less annoying than the experience I'd get paying $40 to H&RBlock or whoever.

So, of course, Trump has killed it.
The I.R.S. is shutting down its free online system for filing tax returns, a program that the Biden administration introduced last year and that users gave high marks.

AppleTV came back, I finished episode 2 of Pluribus.

I'm a sucker for most of the thematic stuff it seems to be going for, it's well written/acted/directed/etc, and I'm really looking forward to more.

Hopefully being a miserable romantasy author gets Rhea Seehorn the Emmy Kim Wexler couldn't.

Halfway through the second episode of Pluribus the image froze while audio kept rolling. Backed out, and now just get 'there was an error playing this content' for everything in AppleTV, even after a reboot.

So far I like it; it's not quite Mrs. Davis tier for me yet, but I'm optimistic.

Have we considered the possibility that they knocked down the East Wing so there's just physically less White House for Trump to get lost in?

People in the future will literally not believe this happened. Nobody will believe that, in 2025, our idiot billionaire king held a literal GREAT GATSBY THEMED PARTY at this moment in politics. It's too stupid. People are going to suspect we're all eating moldy bread.

Grokipedia is like all the drawbacks of AI concentrated in pure form in a way most people will brush off as 'but it's so impressive!'
I give you the entry on Monoco:
grokipedia.com/page/Monoco

The summary is about industrial supplier. Everything else is about a video game character of the same name
Monoco
Monoco Inc. is an American industrial supplier specializing in the distribution, fabrication, and custom machining of non-metallic heat, electrical, and mechanical wear-resistant insulation materials....

A fun thing about 2025 is I, a non-legal-person, will listen in on an appeals court getting deep in the weeds on appointments law, try follow the various statutes they're discussing, and then about an hour in fall into despair as I realize literally none of this will matter to SCOTUS.

I think a lot about how The Shield ended; the exact same end point for Vic would read INSANELY differently in today's climate.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 released this year to really show how passionate creatives coming together to realize their own vision could, with a relatively small team, make one of the best gaming experiences in recent memory.

Elon is apparently going to release the exact opposite of that next year.
Elon Musk announces xAI game studio will release a great AI-generated game before end of 2026.

Powered by Grok, the studio aims to revolutionize gaming with dynamic, photo-realistic experiences.

So many of us came so very unwillingly to this place of viewing the Supreme Court as unworthy of being viewed as a judicial body. Unworthy of veneration, unworthy of respect.

So profoundly reluctantly.

But, good lord have they earned it.

Man I bet the South Park guys are glad they didn't get this week's episode finished in time.

I wonder if they now throw it out and make a completely different one for next week.

This last paragraph here is that Dems should pick their fights based on how the Republican base feels. That is patently absurd--have they polled how popular "running the party based on how what the average Republican wants" polls with the Dem base? Guessing it's not great, Bob.
A Democratic messaging firm ("Navigator Research") tied to the establishment has sent out a memo on govt shutdown fight around DC this am.

They want the Democrats/progressives to focus on "bipartisanship" and focus no pissing of Republicans by talking about "stopping Trump." 🙃

Reading this, I really wonder why the other GOP justices are OK with his being the only voice. Have the other five thought through how embarrassing it is to leave explaining their choices to The Dumb One? Dress up their eventual decision however they want, this is the take we'll remember. It dumb.

As an old, I was working at Hollywood Video when this movie hit home video. Store TVs had to be playing either G-rated movies or the terrible trailer loop. This became such a favorite that we wore out copies, and this may actually be the movie I have seen the most in my life.

So, here for it.
