I think murderers who walk up to somebody and shoot get a bad rap in comparison to murderers who insulate themselves with layers of lawyers, accountants, politicians, ad agencies, and corporate consultants.

Trigger warning!

I was drugged and raped in my home by an acquaintance. I drove myself to the ER at 9pm the following day, after debating for hours. I walked up to the desk, said my name, and told the nurse that I needed a rape kit. I had my sheets, the clothes I had been wearing, and other potential evidence in a paper bag. The woman asked me if l'd prefer she register me as a Jane Doe, "for privacy". I said absolutely not. I was still under my father's health insurance policy, with, guess who? Ding ding, UHC.

It took 7 hours before I was discharged. I was alone. I was already so traumatized, that those 7 hours don't feel particularly traumatic in comparison, but I assure you- it was every bit as bad as it looks on SVU. That's not the point.
The point, is that two weeks later I received a bill in the mail. Paraphrased, it read:

"SEXUAL ASSUALT EXAM- $1200.
INSURANCE COVERAGE- DENIED.
AMOUNT DUE- $1200"

And then another, in two more weeks. And then another. And then they added red font.

The only reason Google image search remains remotely useful to me is that I make extensive use out of the uBlacklist extension and have it set to filter out ai sites. You can use the same blocklist I do by adding these sites to uBlocklist's filter either by copy-pasting or importing the txt.
