Happy New Year! An easy 6km to start 2026 off right. There was a good amount of fresh snow, which made the choice to wear trail shoes a bright one on my part. Good luck runners and have a great year.

While getting this shot, my GoPro fell over. The camera survived, but the 3-in-1 Mini Tripod did not. For the five plus years that I’ve had this camera, more often than not, that tripod has been doing the bulk of the work. It is an excellent product and it will be missed.

I ran the Troy Turkey Trot this morning, the 10K and PR’d as I’m a bad ass. I did it in costume: “Magnum PI” because I am nothing if not topical.

I voted yesterday. I ran on Rt 142 in the Town of Brunswick, New York. Cars are going very fast and there was no shoulder. It goes about saying that there were not sidewalks. However, that was the early voting location in my town. Not pedestrian accessible.

New Yorkers! Runners! I’m not telling you how to vote. I am telling you to vote. (Or not. You can do what you want.)But for members of the running community, local elections matter. Pedestrian infrastructure is almost entirely controlled by local offices.
Runners early voting is happening in New York! Get your soles to the polls! Then there are images of an American flag, two people running, the Statue of Liberty, and someone placing a ballot into a box that has the word vote written on it

I am 51. Yesterday I ran my first sub 60 minute 10K since 1992 when I was just 17 (if you know what I mean). We even stopped twice to answer the call of nature (once each), giving me the opportunity to take a selfie.

I’m a little proud of myself.

I debated whether or not to get a heater for the greenhouse or just bring the six planters that I want to overwinter inside the house. I brought them inside the house last night and I’m glad because the greenhouse is frosted over this morning. #UpstateNY
