threw on a grid texture for a better sense of motion. definitely a bit bumpy right now, think its partially from the track part not being smooth enough and partially because i think it's finally time to make some improvements to the player controller

screw modifier is great. definitely need to increase the resolution so it's a smoother piece but this is great for shapes like this.

i just gotta figure out a good way for making bank transition pieces and then i'll be unstoppable (answer, probly birail or smthn)

had a few minutes to play between other obligations. rotate tool seems like a decent one for making turns - even banked ones if the initial profile/cross-section is already banked. seems a bit less good for situations where I'd want to convert from a straight away to banked or similar conversions

Did chat design with a friend of mine, have some changes to the firing arcs and targeting I want to try out.

Worked some more on better scaled track pieces and sketched some racetrack ideas on a notepad.

Not as much as I'd liked to have gotten done but I'll take it, especially on low sleep!

Setup raising shields. Taking damage while shielding drains energy. Shielding reduces top speed and reduces energy regen (not shown here). I have a perfect shield setup but it's a bit too forgiving / easy to just spam toggle for infinite free blocks currently.

Made the target dummies respawn and switched to raycast shooting. Nothing particular exciting to show so I'll skip on recording footage today. Planning on adding basic vfx just so there's feedback for the shooting. After that, it's the block mechanic and revising my track building workflow.

Didn't have a ton of time today, just quick setup gun and damage. Had a bug with the targeting that was easy enough to fix - will have to test how it holds up in multiplayer. Also need to make the gun aim at center of mass instead of feet, have to get too close. Movement is too floaty/slidey too

Switched up the targeting so that when you toggle it on, it selects the target with the smallest angle from camera forward. Also made it so you can cycle clockwise / counterclockwise to different targets, which is way better than the random jumping it did before (targets are sorted like a clock now)

Wanted to start posting progress of my combat/racing game.

Setup a script for making the turret aim at the active target. Actual target cycling / selection needs work but I already know how I want to change it.

Well worth the read. The feelings she shared around celebrating every small gain and laughing/crying at the bizarre absurdities of both hollow knight and life really moved me.
