You've seen a few posts from us about public transit projects and initiatives that COULD be funded in next week's city budget adjustment.

Here are a complete list of what we want to see council approve (and in some cases oppose) when they go to propose and vote on amendments next week

Not everything in the Fall Budget Adjustment is good for transit riders unfortunately

Administration is proposing increasing the fare for the 747 to the airport to $6.00, with a monthly fare cap increase from $90.00 to $108.00. This could mean an addition $216.00 per year!

"Public transit isn’t a luxury or a niche concern. It’s the backbone of a modern economy and a livable country. Carney still has time to change course to protect and strengthen the Canada Public Transit Fund and transit systems across the country, not leave them vulnerable to cuts."

Read our op-ed⬇️
Public transit is nation-building. Our federal budget should reflect that

Today we setup in the Students Union Building to talk about BRT!

We heard a lot of excitement about the project, and a lot of wishes for faster and more reliable transit on Whyte Avenue.

The Carney Government just passed a Federal Budget that cuts the Canada Public Transit Fund, as the TTC faces a $4.3B repair backlog & $232M operations shortfall.

The $3B fund will now be folded into a generalized infrastructure fund, leaving less money on the table for transit riders nationwide 👎

2026 will be the first (hopefully not last) year that the Canada Public Transit Fund Baseline stream will be in place. Edmonton could unlock up to $16.4 million in additional funding for transit projects through this stream, IF council commits to invest.

This is a great piece from David Cooper about how important the Canada Public Transit Fund is for predictability and maintaining a state of good repair

The Liberal government can reduce their cuts to the program

Opinion: Federal funding cut derails hopes for better public transit
At the very time when Canada’s economy is struggling, this transit funding cut will make things worse.

Today we setup at Coliseum LRT Station to talk to transit riders about the station design

riders can envision a better, more comfortable future for Coliseum Station, and the best part is, the city has millions of dollars available to put towards it through Expo Lands funding.

Did you know that over half of Edmonton's City Councillors had improved transit service in their election platforms?

Whyte Avenue is Edmonton's most vibrant main street, but that doesn't mean we have to accept noise, traffic violence, and congestion

In an opinion article we submitted to the Journal, ETR Chair Daniel Witte talks about his experience spending Halloween on Whyte

Opinion: Let's make Whyte Avenue less scary for pedestrians
We experienced the conflict between Whyte’s energy and vibrancy, with the danger and chaos perpetuated by its car-centric design.
