Unicorns sometimes exist (I have high hopes for Mamdami in NYC), but I think a lot of groundwork needs to be laid to get there.

Agreed, I’m genuinely curious and would love to pick some of my neighbor’s brains if an appropriate opportunity arises, but it’s not my place to say how they should be voting, even if I would like to push for more progressive candidates. There’s too much history here for that.

This is it exactly.

(And the same largely black bloc in SW ATL, where I live, I think truly really like Ossoff). We can hate on him being bipartisan, but he is in a deep purple state and has actually done quite a bit of good, boring legislative work.

And GA politics is complicated, we had a really strong progressive candidate run for city of Atlanta Council Prez this year and he couldn’t even win that seat because a lot of the black voters here prefer establishment Dems.

Turns out we needed way more boots on the ground in SW ATL especially

I too am a GA voter and I agree with you, I don’t think people on this thread quite get what a feat it was.

I don’t think anyone has a puncher’s chance at coming for Ossoff in the primary, I think GA Dems like him quite a bit.

I’m way more interested in seeing if Ruwa Romman can beat a weaker Dem field in the GA Governor’s primary.

What’s even more unforgivable is Warnock voting for it, IMO. Warnock doesn’t have to worry about reelection until 2028, and the only people who will remember he voted for it are those on the left.

I understand that’s a really low bar but here we are.

Idk I think she’s genuinely moved on some things compared to where she was a couple years ago. Take her willingness to partner with Mamdami over childcare for instance. Doesn’t seem to be willing to attack Trump on twitter one minute and agree with right wing podcasters on trans rights the next.

The whistles are the entry point. But the long game is the community that is being formed every time someone who has never really been engaged before decides to do This One Thing that gives them a reason to talk to their neighbors.

Community is what saves us in the end. That is my belief.

Atlantans, need you to call on your neighborhood orgs & NPUs to chime up, too. Contact information for known Chairs are included.

Need people from all over the city to call on key decision makers to get their shit in order and stop obstructing transit expansion.
