If you feel you're getting subpar results report your caseworker. Don't take over.
December 10, 2025 at 12:52 AM
There are clients with no family, and minimal supports. They will absolutely reallocate funds to those they perceive to be in a higher need. It's a terrible idea to overstep the bounds and start doing the government workers job.
December 10, 2025 at 12:51 AM
You will still get your services cancelled if the government perceives there to be duplicate supports.

Doge gutted us. We have no money. Ovr will not provide supports if they perceive the client to have support already. In their eyes, if you are at the interview, I am redundant.

This is a poor platform to get into nuances. But we aren't strangers, we've met many times before and worked together for months in prep for this.
December 9, 2025 at 6:54 PM
I get it. But the government will cut her sons supports citing her as a natural support to justify removing govt funded support.

She was told to stop before by the govt run program and then continued to do exactly what they told her not to.

it was a real weird exchange i had both with someone in the comments and someone who DMd me to say im terrible for saying a client should lose their job over their parents. I didn't say i LIKED that policy, i was just stating the reality of the situation.
December 9, 2025 at 1:31 PM
lol i also was confused as to the meaning of this comment.

I mean, i could technically make an autistic child because i am also autistic? maybe he's saying mom might have autism? I'm not sure lol

Even if so, she's been told what she can and can't do, and the consequences, and she's continuing...

I work for an agency, do a quick search to see what kind of "vocational rehab" or "job coaching" or "career developing" agencies you have near you.

Make sure that they 1.) have experience with nuerodivergence 2. are non-profit
December 9, 2025 at 11:46 AM
I would never close a client's case over a parent. 1. I dont have the authority 2. I'd feel too guilty because they need help and they can't control their parents.

OVR will absolutely close their case for sure. Listen to them, please.
December 9, 2025 at 11:44 AM
It makes it worse when the govt program runners tell the parents exactly what they should not be doing, and then they go and do it anyway. Like this lady.
December 9, 2025 at 11:43 AM
I love my job and my clients, but when parents come swooping in thinking they are doing what's right but actually fucking things up so bad their kids may lose services, ya, that gets me irritated and since I can't yell at her, I yell into the void to blow off some steam so I can come back calm
December 9, 2025 at 11:43 AM
since i got some very strange DMs from this...

At no point was I ever, in any way shape or form, upset with my CLIENT.

Even on real bad days where I'm stressed to the max and my clients may have had rough days themselves, I would never think of posting something negative about them. Ever.
December 9, 2025 at 11:42 AM
oh I know, i realized shortly after i posted the lighting didn't look quite right -- I kept it up because it's really more about the silliness of the post.

I too made a bet with myself on a whim that I could just "get into shape" this year by running a 5k every day
December 9, 2025 at 11:35 AM
This is the same rescue that took in Bagheera <3

She's still there so I'll get to say hi <3

They are a very strict no kill shelter. The only reason for putting one down is severe terminal health issues.
December 9, 2025 at 11:25 AM
Lol it's less about the picture and more about the mentality.

I did this almost on a drunken whim as a joke to myself.

"LOL let's run a 5k every day for a year and see what happens"
December 9, 2025 at 11:04 AM
And even if parents are on site (which is exceedingly rare) they are almost always providing medical or emotional support I am unable to provide. The paperwork, the tasks, everything else they have to step down and let the coach take over.
December 8, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Sometimes a waiver client will have an exception and their supports coordinator knows they will be on site

OVR is a different beast. Its not meant for clients with behaviors or high support needs. Its not meant for customized employment. Its competitive employment with a high focus on independence
December 8, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Ha! My mom wasn't quite that clinical or experienced but she had a child development bachelor's and advocated for me back when I got an "aspergers" diagnosis. Shows you how old i am, lol
December 8, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Honestly if she had just sat there and watched I wouldn't have cared. Weird. But okay as long as he was the one answering questions and filling out paperwork. She was doing it all!
December 8, 2025 at 9:51 PM
Ovr told her to stop when she was attending interviews. My client is now at high risk of having his services terminated if she shows up and tries to job coach.

We will need to be blunt this time that the government will consider her a natural support and will pull govt support (me).
December 8, 2025 at 9:35 PM
If she does that with her own kids, if that's applicable here, she will risk their funding and supports.
December 8, 2025 at 9:31 PM
Independence breeds confidence, learning, growth, more opportunities, self reliance, self esteem, and my job is to meet each client where they are and give them the tools they need so I can leave and they thrive on their own.

She's so off base it'd be funny if it weren't so enraging.
