OK everyone this is really simple - Nazis bad. The end.
Correct. I've been saying this for months. Money doesn't do you much good if the treatment you need doesn't exist! The rich cannot just set up their own research institutions to replace what is lost.
The crazy thing is, this is the stuff rich people really need the government to be doing. No matter how rich you are, you can't replicate the health benefits of the government doing major studies like this. But they don't care.

I really have no idea how the "good guys" kept going during other periods of unspeakable horror and cruelty, and didn't collapse from tje weight of it all. I'm sure there were people who think of themselves as good (not the people referred to in first sentence) who said bullshit like...

Why did Mandani go to the WH anyway? Is that a standard thing for newly elected mayors of NYC?

For real, what the fuck is this bullshit
Getting a lot of "fake issue, doesn't matter" replies to this post and I gotta say, it certainly matters to me that so many members of the Dem House caucus are credulous dupes.

YES THANK YOU! I was trying and failing to come up with something like this earlier. It's not the scientists at fault.
I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I'm never going to forget or forgive. There isn't a word that can describe my rage.

The average American apparently has no idea how much of a positive impact our world-class research had on public health & have no idea how much misery & death will result from its destruction. I'm so fucking livid every day at the median voter's ignorance that led to this colossal fuckup.
we have PrEP because of these monkey studies. animal welfare in medical research is extremely strictly limited and regulated to ensure ethical use. there is no replacement for these animal models in biomedical research.

No, it's unforgivable. The destruction of our research institutions, public health infrastructure, climate monitoring, USAID (which has already killed thousands, mainly kids), the terror unleashed by ICE, I could go on and on and on, will be felt for DECADES (at least). We may never recover.
People keep saying we need to show grace to those in MAGA who eyes are finally opened.

This is without question the hardest task I've ever been asked to do, because they're just so fucking stupid.

That's why I say that, at its core, reactionary politics is not an alternative set of values, norms, & rules -- it is permission to *jettison* values, to ignore the dreary call of conscience, to wallow in impulse & instinct. It can't triumph via persuasion (it sounds awful out loud), only violence.

Damn throwing the f bomb out. This is the way!
The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

You guys know what this means right
Exclusive: The U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika, nooses and the Confederate flag as hate symbols.

The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”

we really need to nationalize healthcare but we're too corrupt to function so we're just going to have to wade through a bunch of corpses and suffering for the next five years while our feckless corporate press softsells the carnage

On the other side of this, most everyone will pretend that they were actually against it the whole time. But NAH, I have the receipts you vile assholes.

I will never get over how voters chose this, more than once, or how every single institution failed at several stops along the way to allow this despicable and wildly unqualified cretin to be POTUS. Just a deep humiliation and indictment of this country.
This is how the depraved, unprincipled Trump excuses the murder of Jamal Khashoggi : blame the victim.

“A lot of people didn’t like that gentleman that you’re talking about, whether you like him or didn’t like him, things happen,” he says sitting with the culpable MBS.

Sickening and infuriating.

I really don't understand why this isn't an open and shut case. Nazis = bad, the end.
Yes, I think having a Nazi tattoo is a 100% NON-STARTER for a Democratic candidate.

It's sickening that people are trying to put him over despite that and his other racist and misogynist statements.

Disqualified.

Janet Mills is HIGHLY qualified, accomplished, proven.

I work with several other PhDs and some of them are so smug and pretentious. Calm down, even a loser like me has a doctorate so it's not actually the flex you think it is. Also they think my biology PhD is weak and "not elite" or whatever.
