A real piece of work in progress. Comics and music and wrestling and soccer and nature and, look, probably family stuff. Almost Toronto. (he, him)
Diving into the Booker winner. Pretty sure it’s going to be uplifting and feel-good.

Just sharing that I love all the shrimp/snail aquaria pics very much but haven’t hearted them all lest you think I am too emotionally invested in this new adventure (which I am). I tried to keep Mystery Snails myself, but someone (pictured) kept eating them.

I was playing way too much Balatro on my Nintendo Switch, so to kick the habit I downloaded a new game… and have since learned that this was like dealing with a mouse infestation by letting loose 560 lynxes into my house.

I have the same problem I had before, but now it’s on a far bigger scale.

(iPhones and highly reflective curved glass do not render turtle photography something I try often.)

Comparison is the thief of joy and none of these cartoonists draw or write remotely the same, but I am just saying my favourite crime comics are:
- Laphams' Stray Bullets;
- Grist's Kane; and
- THIS THIS THIS.
(Jusichi's Children of Mu-Town is also great.)

Holy hell; gaze on these Frankenstein paintings.

(Love love LOVE what I’ve seen of Frank’s stuff, but unfortunately that’s limited to these two boss Rocketo collections.)

Went to the soccer game last night. I love this incarnation of the #CanMNT very, very much and it was great seeing them hold Ecuador to a nil-nil draw despite playing virtually the whole game a man down. Also I am fully 💯 Richie Laryea Respect Army. Dude is a beast and a genius.

I love you, Markham Public Library.

For a while there, I was genuinely lost but eventually made it through the woods alive. Anyway, this is now a “likin’ lichen” and “moss is boss” account.

Today, I turned 47. Went for a walk.

Anyway, happy birthday to both me and Neil Young—two good-looking Canadian boys; you should buy yourself something self-indulgent to celebrate. 🎈

It was a good, fun read!

Interested to see how it will translate to film.

Birthday chat this week?

Spent a fortune at @thebeguiling.bsky.social & regret nothing. Can’t wait to dive into comics from cartoonist geniuses one & all: Oima, Urushibara, @davidlapham.bsky.social, @gustaffovargas.bsky.social + Walsh, Otero & Malkasian. (Today was why I couldn’t make a Favourite Books of 2025 list yet.) 📚

Really enjoyed this one from @jeremyperrodeau.bsky.social & am confused why more people aren’t talking about it. Won the Fauve des Lyceens at Angouleme. Nice English translation from Canadian publisher @blackpanelpress.bsky.social. blackpanelpress.com/en/product/p...

Went out for dinner last night (Newmarket’s Made in Mexico; hell yeah cauliflower burritos with sides of tortilla soup y frijoles) and appreciated the beautiful religious iconography. 🤼

I saw three blue jays today, and I need this game to end so I can finally know if they were good omens or portents of doom.

If anyone is allowed to explain moths to you, it is Thistle followed very distantly by me. (Moths are cool. Let them devour your beautiful coat if they want to, I say.)

A propos of a certain lil’baseball game, here is a nice piece I saw last week in Toronto at Queen’s Park by Kory Parkin (Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory).

This was unnecessarily cruel, factual, and direct.
