If you, like me, are the parent of a neuro-atypical child dreading this autism press conference, please remember: These are the people hurting our kids. Not us. They are the ones stigmatizing and pathologizing them. They are the ones peddling untested science. And we should be very, very angry.

The good news: CDC's webpages have been restored following court orders.
The bad news: many have this despicable banner attached to them. We will be getting into misconceptions in gender ideology in a later post. For now, we are hurt and ashamed, and we stand with the LGBTQIA+ community.

It’s been buried in all the news today, but every scientist in the US should pay attention to this:

Mike Lauer went out on a limb for us all, sending out a memo saying institutes should start awarding grants. And it looks like Trump/Musk fired him for that. 🧪
NEW: In a further sign of turmoil at the NIH, Mike Lauer, who oversees the agency's $39 billion extramural budget that goes to research outside the NIH, has resigned effective tomorrow.

This comes after top NIH official Larry Tabak abruptly retired yesterday.

Also: a major CDC contractor "just let go." Others may follow.

This is an attack on our ability to detect outbreaks.

For some reason, there is this assumption that this science isn't good science because certain words are used. That's just ridiculous. As an epidemiologist, describing the burden of disease (or other phenomenon) among the population is essential, and we absolutely cannot shy away from those words.

Yesterday I realized that people do not understand that the “DEI” purge is a cover to get Black people fired and sidelined from government, university, and civic and corporate life in the US.

This is so clear based on who is being targeted that I hadn’t thought to say it explicitly

Happy #BHM! 🙃

NIH issued just 11 grant awards totaling $4,981,089.

48% of papers published since January 1, 2015 have been removed from PCD website.

Our team pulled all PCD publications from PubMed and checked the DOI to see if the paper still exists on the PCD website. For the 1470 articles from the past 10 years, only 763 are still accessible through PCD (52%).
