It seems like the consequence for lying in journalism is that you get the well paid jobs at a billionaire owned outlet.
Meanwhile, all my talented friends in journalism are left making $18/hr or begging for $5 at a time on Patreon… or no longer in journalism.

If we were to increase the number of undocumented workers in the US construction industry by 100,000 people, the labor supply of fast construction workers would go *up*, and the cost to construct a home would go *down*.
Everyone knows this.

Having $800M in your investment account vs $400M doesn't change your life at all, but having a labor market where your underlings are desperate to cling to jobs vs one where they can walk across the street and get a better offer makes a huge difference in the day to day reality of the very wealthy

This is my constant refrain too. It costs less than a mediocre 7/11 franchise to buy a news outlet. And yet.
A group in Bend Oregon actually did manage to buy The Bulletin a few years back… but their attention was fleeting and now it’s in the hands of Carpenter, being decimated.
