Many Virginians, like me, are frustrated with the lack of fight, urgency, & action being taken by @markwarner.bsky.social.

I encourage you to research @jasonreynoldsforsenate.com, @loritadaniels4va.bsky.social, & @itsmarkmoran.bsky.social, then volunteer to help the campaign you most align with.
I would never consider myself “pro-organized-religion,” but we finally decided to attend our local Unitarian Universalist church this weekend… and we are 100% going back.

If you’ve been searching for community rooted in justice, compassion, civil rights, & fighting for democracy, check out UU!

They may have gassed our comrades, our families and our children, but today was MASSIVE. If the surge comes, Portland is ready to defend our communities! ICE OUT!

There is this thing about the way folks are dogpiling eachother here lately that smacks of a desire to get out their rage at feeling impotent about the actions of the regime somewhere, anywhere.

It is a much more worthwhile strategy to take that rage into organizing your friends and neighbors.

I’m seeing constant calls for a nationwide shutdown this Friday, January 30.

No work
No school
No purchases

But I haven’t seen anything here on BlueSky! If you are unable to miss work, ensure no spending, cancel the last of your subscriptions, & look into how you can help your community.

If Stephen Miller is still in the White House, that means the white nationalist gameplan is still all systems GO.

What we're witnessing is just window dressing and distractions.

Tom Homan is just as bad as Bovino, but less openly Nazi.

Keep your eyes wide open.

If you need to take some time to figure out what’s real vs what you wanted to be real, take that time without shame. The whole world has conspired to make sure you never made it far enough to reconsider your positions. Once you do, and you’re ready for battle again, make them pay for lying to you.

The issue is, @kaine.senate.gov, you and @markwarner.bsky.social talk about needing safeguards & conditions.

What good are guardrails without anyone to ensure enforcement, prosecution, & accountability?

You mention abuse of power, but take no ownership of the inaction & abandonment of yours.
The horrific shooting of Alex Pretti has only sharpened the position I announced last Friday—the House-passed bill funding Homeland Security is a non-starter because it lacks sufficient safeguards against abuse and accountability for those who have used their power to brutalize our communities.
My statement on the House-passed government funding bills:

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

It’s dangerous to fight this regime, it’s also dangerous to NOT fight this regime.

Remember that no one is asking YOU to STOP what is happening. It’s hard for any of us to know what that would look like.

We just need to organize support systems & utilize our skills for intentional action.

The human brain is wired to solve problems (for survival). That is why so many feel helpless: no one brain can solve the 250 year disease of the US empire.

Find a smaller problem to solve, a mission to serve, a grassroots community or candidate to support.

Anchor into that purpose, hold onto hope.

Production week was too much of a whirlwind to post— I was at the theatre from 10am til 11pm daily. And in just 5 days, this cast created a beautiful show & an unforgettable process.

I am so grateful for this experience & the souls that collaborated to make it happen.

No Kings Protest in Manassas, VA! The coordinators believe it was at least 1500 people standing on a half mile stretch of road!

Surreal and emotional when you’re present in the moment, realizing what and why we’re protesting.

I went between crying and chanting the whole time. 🩵

My anxiety is through the roof as I prep for the debut performance of my play.

Things I wanted locked in weeks ago are still in flux, so I’ve had to shift my perspective from “professional level performance” to “most supportive director.”

Hand-building props today, snack haul tomorrow.

The best part about what we do with Eralore is collaboration.

Plant a seed and watch it grow in a new direction than you could have ever imagined on your own.

The Haverton Howler has grown with beta readers, guest actors, script workshops, and now… an illustration turned show poster!

Woke up this morning with a twinge of nervousness, as we explore some big changes in our lives. Then I was reminded of this song, which was written for “Johnnie’s Song,” our 1920s-style radio hour drama.

The world is deep, dive in.

I’m avoiding finishing the next draft of my play, which needs to go back to the cast in a few weeks.

But in my defense, I’m much more in creator mode than critic mode right now. And it feels <really> good.

So yes. I’ve started writing a new play instead. 🫣

I started working on a burlesque stageplay script last year, and have been thinking about diving back in.

Today, I had a healing session, and she asked if I was a dancer!

No, why?

I saw you in a past life, you were a burlesque dancer! 👀 Soooo, I guess I’m writing that one next, huh?

I wasn’t sure anything could beat going into the recording studio with a cast and my script, but last week’s live reading and audience talkback proved me wrong.

As we inch closer to Eralore’s newest production, it has me brewing on new collaboration ideas!
