Since early 2024 the price of gold has been going through the roof - China in particular is buying up huge amounts, one of many countries are that looks to be moving off the US Dollar standard. It is a solid testament to the global lack of confidence in the US economy.

If anyone else had said "Quiet piggy" to a female reporter I'm pretty sure she could have gotten away with an immediate physical retribution such as a bitch-slap or knee to the bollocks. Boarish behavior and abuse of power deserves it.

Well I was able to get the full context about the Trump part from the BBC News itself.
This is the kind of stuff people in the UK government orgs (which the BBC is) resign for in the UK. Imagine that applied in the US media, it would be a blood bath.

Given that US election day 2026 is November 3rd a November 5th release date might be a little late to inspire an uprising at the polls. Let's hope it isn't a banned film in the US by then.

Their article is behind a paywall but for DC at least "plunging" is a real stretch. Crime rates there and in other metros were already declining before Trump ever sent troops in. Since August there's no sign of a decline in DC violent crimes, if anything they are trending up.

I see water filter companies found a way to profit from the current wave of anti science hysteria - selling "fluoride filters" for a jug based water filtering system. $139 provides 1000 gal of FUD free water but for those with children probably more trips to the dentist. Assuming the filters work.
