Day 10 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids advent, a mini skein in a peachy color, plus day 5 of the Haunui advent, which is the undyed “Oatmeal” colorway. A Lendrum spinning wheel with a 3D printed bobbin with 2-ply yarn. It is a champagne color with 1 ply being 100% Corriedale and the other the same Corriedale blended with 20% angora

Three knitting projects in progress. On the top left is child sweater (Compass by Tin Can Knits) with a colorwork yoke being knit with a dark red (super old Louet Gems Sportweight) and white (undyed KnitPicks High Desert Sport). To the right is the start of a Christmas stocking knit in two shade of blue and light grey. I’m winging the pattern as I go, using colorwork patterns from other patterns and stitch dictionaries. Yarn is Plymouth Yarns Encore. On the lower left is a hat in stripes of Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted. Another pattern I am winging a bit. It has a wide 2x2 ribbing brim and the rest is stockinette.

Getting caught up on my advent calendars, and I spun the fiber I opened today (day 5 of the Melly Knits Delightful advent).
Yesterday’s (December 8) advent items. A light pink mini skein of yarn from Artemis Yarns, and naturally pale grey (the color is called “Fog) Haunui rip dyed in shades of orange, pink, and purple. It’s another colorway reminiscent of a sunset. December 9 advent items. The mini skein from Artemis Yarns is mostly a light pink shot through with some orange. The fiber is dark dark Haunui. About as black as you can get in naturally colored wool. There’s also a small dark ceramic slug. An antique spinning wheel partially filled with spun singles. The fiber was a dark (about as black as you can get with wool) Haunui.

#SundaysAreForSpinnung overlaps with another day of Advent Calendars. Day 4 of the Melly Knits Delughtdul was 80% Corriedale/20% angora. I spun it up and transferred days 3 and 4 to storage bobbins for plying. I also skeined up the yarn from plying Days 1 and 2. #Handspinning
Day 7 of the Artemis Nereids advent, which is a mini skein of yarn that’s a mixture of light purple and pink. Day 4 of the Melly Knits Delightful advent was Corriedale blended with 20% angora. The fiber is the same champagne color as the pure Corriedale from day 3z An antique spinning wheel with a spin single of 80% Corriedale/20% angora. The yarn is a champagne color with a noticeable halo from the angora. From right to left: A plastic storage bobbin with the remnants of the Melly Knits Delightful advent day 2 (8% Cormo/20% bison down), the skeined yarn from plying days 1 and 2 together (a greyish brown yarn), a plastic storage bobbin with Day 3 singles (a champagne Corriedale), and a mastic storage bobbin with the Day 4 singles (the same Corriedale from Day 3 blended with 20% angora).

I opened day 6 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent Calendar, Day 3 of the Haunui 100% wool, and spun up Day 3 of Delightful from Melly Knits.

Today I opened Day 5 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent Calendar and Day 3 of the Melly Knits Delightful. But I wasn’t really in a spinning mood tonight.
At the top is a tonal purple yarn (Day 5 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids advent calendar). Below are the contents of Day 3 from the Melly Knits Delightful advent. The fiber is a champagne colored Corriedale (an example lock is also shown) and a cardboard tube of lip balm.

Day 4 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent—it is a light purple mini skein of yarn. Day 2 of the Haunui wool fiber advent. The braid is the same Pearl Haunui as day 1 dyed in tones of pink, purple, and orange. There’s an overall orangey tint to the photo because I had turned in the indoor lights—it was an overcast day and I took this photo around sunset. A 3D printed pink spinning wheel bobbin with a brownish grey 2-ply yarn. This is day 1 (Cormo) and day 2 (Cormo + 20% bison) of the Melly Knits Delightful Advent plied together.

Days 2 and 3 of my Advent Calendars. The fiber advents are 12 days each, so I’m alternating. I opened the first one from Hauni yesterday (I chose 100% wool). I opened day 2 from Melly Knits today and spun it up (Cormo + 20% bison down). #Handspinning
A mini skein of purple yarn (Day 2 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent) and Day 1 of the Haunui wool advent. It is a braid of undyed white top, aptly called their “Pearl” color. A mini skein of purple yarn—a lighter purple than yesterday. This is the Day 3 yarn from the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent. A mini batt of carded greyish brown fiber. This is the same Cormo from day 1, blended with 20% bison down. An antique spinning wheel bobbin with spun greyish brown singles. This is Cormo + 30% bison down, which is definitely adding a bit of a halo to the yarn.

#AdventCalendar day 1. This year I bought some advent calendars I had admired for a while but hadn’t had the chance to purchase. I got the Artemis Yarns Nereids yarn advent and the @mellyknits.bsky.social Delightful. I managed to spin up day 1 of Delightful tonight.
Day 1 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids advent, which is a deep blue yarn. It came with some mermaid tail and shell stitch markers. Also day 1 of the MellyKnits Delightful advent. It came with some mushroom shaped stitch markers (I’m so excited for the morel one, and I think the other is a chanterelle), a lock of the Cormo sheep, and 25g of carded fiber in a greyish brown. An antique spinning wheel with 25g of spun greyish brown Cormo singles.

I got some deep blue yarn and some brownish grey Cormo wool to spin (from Artemis Yarns and MellyKnits, respectively).
Day 1 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids advent, which is a deep blue yarn. It came with some mermaid tail and shell stitch markers. Also day 1 of the MellyKnits Delightful advent. It came with some mushroom shaped stitch markers (I’m so excited for the morel one, and I think the other is a chanterelle), a lock of the Cormo sheep, and 25g of carded fiber in a greyish brown.

3 skeins of handspun 3 ply yarn in various shades of green. The yarn was spun from 3 different colorways dyed by Southern Cross Fibers in different greens ( Emerald on Falkland, Rainforest on Bond, and the green parts of Grazing, also on Bond). Supplemented with leftovers also in greens. The biggest bobbin of leftovers was Targhee dyed by Honeygold Acres in colorway OC29.

They are mostly shades of green with some brown and teal. On the left are 4 storage bobbins oriented horizontally. They contain leftover singles from past spinning projects. They all have some green to them, but they are either paler or more grey than the main project.

I’d gotten out of the habit of posting on #SundaysAreForSpinning . I spun up a few more @mellyknits.bsky.social Sommelier batts (including some practice at spinning thicker than usual with the blue yar ), and started a combo spin in green with fiber died by Southern Cross.
2 skeins of golden brown handspun yarn. The larger one is a true 3-ply and was skeined on a 2-yard niddy-noddy. The smaller skein was chain-plied with leftovers and was sound onto a 1-yard niddy noddy. The fiber was a Mellyknits blend of 75% Bond, 20% alpaca, and muga silk. A skein of handspun yarn. It appears mostly off-white, but in-person one can see darker fibers blended throughout. Spun as a 2-ply from a Mellyknits Sommelier batt. The batt was a blend of 75% Deboulliet, 15% Castledale, and 10% cashgora. A skein of handspun yarn. It’s noticeably thicker than the other yarns. Also spun as a 2-ply from a Mellyknits Sommelier batt. This was a blend of 60% Sarah, Romney X Corriedale, 20% Clun Forest X, and 20% sari silk. 3 plastic storage bobbins with handspun singles. The yarns are mostly shades of green, with a bit of brown and a tiny bit of teal.

#SundaysAreForSpinning and I’ve had more interest/motivation in spinning than I have in a while. I spun up 2 bobbins of singles, skeined and washed last week’s yarn, and started a new carding project. #Handspinning 🧶
Two wooden spinning wheel bobbins with golden brown spun singles, plus a batt of unspun fiber. The batt was from Mellyknits and is 75% Bond, 20% alpaca, 5% muga silk. A skein of 2 ply handspun yarn. The fiber is Rambouillet and it was naturally dyed by Petal & Hank into different shades of purple. The colors were spun separately and then plied together. Washed (and in one case, dyed) locks of wool ready for processing. In the back is Dorset. The locks are white, matte, blocky, with a tight crimp. On the lower left is a BFL cross. The locks have dark tips (it was a lamb, so is this the fleece it was born with), but the rest is either ivory or a pale pale grey. They have a sheen and are more curly than crimpy. On the lower right are Polypay x merino locks dyed in shades of green. Two rolled up batts of carded fleece. They are still a bit streaky in shades of green.

Also included is the start of a top (Flow by Trin-Annelie). It started with 1x1 twisted ribbing for the collar, and then the pattern moved into cables, which periodically get wider as the circular yoke increases are added. I’ve separated the body from the sleeves—the remainder is worked in reverse stockinette. It’s knit with a light blue fingering weight 50/50 blend of cotton and superwash merino, dyed by Fiber MacGyver in the colorway “Bahama.”

A 3-D printed spinning wheel bobbin (for a Lendrum using a WooLee Winder) full to the brim of a 2-ply yarn. Both plies are Rambouillet naturally dyed in 2 different shades of purple. Also shown is a different, larger 3D printed spinning wheel bobbin (for a Daedalus Starling espinner showing all that remains of the singles I had more of. I didn’t measure it out, but it is probably a few yards at most.
