The a knit slipover in progress. It is brown and knit in brioche stitch. Every 6 rows, the brk and the brp switch places. The yarn is a DK farm yarn made from a brown Cormo named Hershey (who I have met). The pattern is Biscuit Slipover by Bridget Zhou.

On the bottom is the front piece, which is complete. The shoulder stitches are still live. The back piece is nearly finished.

A day late for #SundaysAreForSpinning . I brought fiber and am espinner with me on our MEA weekend roadtrip, but didn’t do any spinning while traveling. I did spin up the last bobbin of these singles when we got back yesterday. #Handspinning 🧶

What, that you can’t be a villain and be attractive? That’s bullshit. I thought Egerton did a great job in the role—I loathed him. I had to be in the right mindset to watch episodes, because he disgusted me so much

The twist that Dave Gudsen was a heftier, schubbiet guy, rather than the slinger and handsome Taron Egerton was dumb. I mean, I get that they were trying to show how Gudsen was fantasizing that he was better looking and “more masculine”

#SundaysAreForSpinning and I’ve had more interest/motivation in spinning than I have in a while. I spun up 2 bobbins of singles, skeined and washed last week’s yarn, and started a new carding project. #Handspinning 🧶

The batt was from Mellyknits and is 75% Bond, 20% alpaca, 5% muga silk.

A skein of 2 ply handspun yarn. The fiber is Rambouillet and it was naturally dyed by Petal & Hank into different shades of purple. The colors were spun separately and then plied together.

Washed (and in one case, dyed) locks of wool ready for processing.

In the back is Dorset. The locks are white, matte, blocky, with a tight crimp.

On the lower left is a BFL cross. The locks have dark tips (it was a lamb, so is this the fleece it was born with), but the rest is either ivory or a pale pale grey. They have a sheen and are more curly than crimpy.

On the lower right are Polypay x merino locks dyed in shades of green.

I forgot to post for yesterday’s #WIPWednesday. I’ve spent most of my time working on the slipover—I should be close to starting the neckline shaping. I’ve slowed on the blue top—I should try it on to see if I want to add waist shaping. Patterns and yarns in alt text. #Knitsky #Knitting 🧶

Also included is the start of a top (Flow by Trin-Annelie). It started with 1x1 twisted ribbing for the collar, and then the pattern moved into cables, which periodically get wider as the circular yoke increases are added. I’ve separated the body from the sleeves—the remainder is worked in reverse stockinette. It’s knit with a light blue fingering weight 50/50 blend of cotton and superwash merino, dyed by Fiber MacGyver in the colorway “Bahama.”

A 3-D printed spinning wheel bobbin (for a Lendrum using a WooLee Winder) full to the brim of a 2-ply yarn. Both plies are Rambouillet naturally dyed in 2 different shades of purple.

Also shown is a different, larger 3D printed spinning wheel bobbin (for a Daedalus Starling espinner showing all that remains of the singles I had more of. I didn’t measure it out, but it is probably a few yards at most.

This afternoon we learned that our oldest put a carton of choc. milk in his backpack (maybe on Thursday?), and that it leaked all over the contents of his backpack. The fact that the dog kept sniffing and licking the bag should’ve tipped us off sooner. At least the electronics were ok.

I stumbled across the concept of “blindsight” on Wikipedia. It’s a when people have a form of brain damage that destroys their primary visual cortex (rendering them blind), but they show behaviors that indicate that some unconscious parts of their brain are still processing visual input. Fascinating

#WIPWednesday: slow going on the slog of stockinette. I finished the colorwork yoke but it may be too small (misread the instructions for the first set of increases), so to put off making a decision, I got a belated start on my project for the #OctobervestMAL . #Knitting #Knitsky 🧶

I read about a time study in Virginia Postrel’s book, “The Fabric of Civilization,” that calculated that more hours of work went into the sails of a Viking ship than all the rest of the ship.
