pragmatically, temporary closures are also a smaller ask for residents to support - so they provide an opportunity for communities to develop and build street play cultures where none exist or where the need for one is less well understood/appreciated...

Well, that was the plan, not sure if it still is...the current sports fields would be the only remaining open green space (but not open to the public) ...

contrast that with the sketch on the right which doesn't include the railings & padlocked gates which are added in the final implementation!

Absolutely! (although I would also still like them to be pitches, just public ones!!). Grangegorman could get worse though - I remember seeing older development plans for the campus which indicated precious little green space left apart from private pitches once all the construction was complete!
