It’s clear now that the Mayor is continuing the Ted Wheeler style of government and the Councilors need to assert the Charter as voters intended.

This is why I mask indoors when sharing air with others, regularly test, use air purifiers, and get a COVID booster every six months, most recently on Monday. Saddens and infuriates me governments and organisations are letting us down despite all the evidence these protections are still needed.
COVID isn’t acting like the viruses most of us grew up with, and treating it like “just a cold” is putting people at real risk. David Brasure breaks down why SARS-CoV-2 is fundamentally different, how it causes long-term damage, and what we can do to protect ourselves.

You are, right now, paying Big Oil's $900 annual pollution tax, in the form of higher home insurance, higher health insurance, and higher electric bills for more air conditioning. These costs disproportionately burden the poor and will keep rising as long as the fossil fuel industry exists.

The Mayor met one goal (on paper) but along the way revealed that the shelter plan was primarily a tool for implementing a camping ban.

On the way here, we devoted a bunch of money that could have been used on rental assistance to a half-assed shelter program.
Mayor Wilson pledged to end unsheltered homelessness in Portland by Dec. 1.

Today, people are still sleeping on Portland streets.

But Wilson did met one goal: He secured $$ to open his goal of 1,500 new beds. (Yet only 890 of those beds are currently open for use.)

The state of Portland’s homelessness crisis, as mayor’s critical deadline passes
Mayor Wilson came into office with a pledge to end street sleeping by Dec. 1. Today, thousands still live outside.

The City Attorney just released their proposed ballot title for the Portland Police Association's attempt to raid the clean energy fund to further grow its bloated budget.

Not only does the underlying idea really suck trying to enshrine it in the charter is an extra-shithead-y maneuver.

Here is a FAQ sheet that will clarify what Portland City Council does and doesn't have power to do in relation to revoking the Macadam ICE permit.

TL;DR:
(1) CC cannot unilaterally revoke the ICE permit;
(2) CC cannot lean on PP&D to do it;
(3) the CC is exercising its authority in other ways.

Only 46% of Americans got the Covid shot this year. After how hard they made it to get it at first I don't necessarily blame folks but this government is absolutely going to bring infection rates back to 2020 levels if how they've treated measles is any indication
In a new leaked memo, the FDA outlined plans to make it much harder to get new vaccines approved, claiming, without sharing evidence, that the COVID vaccines have killed at least 10 children.

This is so reckless. The science shows us that COVID vaccines have saved millions of lives.

Part of why this stuff keeps getting underreported is that our media class can’t get it through their thick heads that this is not a weightless debate over political ideology, but a declaration of war on over 100 million Americans, which DHS is announcing an intent to eliminate
