It's been great to see the positive responses to the Curriculum and Assessment Review panel here on Bluesky. There have been a few questions on representation too...[1/2]

Remember how i told y'all that text written by neurodivergent peeps would likely have a higher false positive rate on "AI" checkers because masking means they are likely to engage in careful and specific word choice and that that would show up in text as "unnatural?" This is more of that.
Kid has an English assignment, where school has kids first submit essay to an "AI checker." Kid did not use AI. AI checker says the use of the word "devoid" magically turned essay into 18% AI written. Changing "devoid" makes it drop to 0%. We're spending time "un-AI-ing" an essay that has no AI.

Good morning! It’s Sunday which means it’s time for the #Edujobs bulletin.

An hour of job openings which are education related but not classroom-based.

Wave if you’re watching
Shout if you get one

I have 89 survey responses, and for some reason this is a deeply unsatisfying number. Don't suppose anyone sat exams as a home educator this year and wants to answer about their experiences?

Sister: last night I dreamt I punched mum square in the face. Woke up to a bang - I’d actually punched half a cup of cold tea all over the room, and split my knuckle.

Mum (unfazed): well I had a dream last night that Ellie was putting slugs and snails all over me and making me eat them.

hey did you know that in Greek tragedy, the plays that we have are single parts of what would have been a tetralogy? and we don't have any complete set of all four parts? the most complete we have is the Oresteia which is three parts of the tragic story but the final part was always a COMEDY?

That would be fab!

For context: I support learners coming from AP to mainstream FE - the drop off in comms for parents can be pretty big anyway, but moreso I think when transitioning from AP!
Wondering if #thisisAP can provide ideas and if we can draw upon successes of previous years transition funding

Hey #eduSky 👋 anyone parent of y11+s going to FE college?

I want to know what (if anything) I can offer in the coming week or two as enrolments and term 1 get going - would be super grateful if any input of things you would benefit from/would have liked if you’ve already been through it!

Hell wanted - hello fellow BlueSky peeps! I’m starting a secondment in September as acting head of a very small school. Does anyone have any advice or literature about the important things I need to focus on in my first few days? Some whole school assembly ideas to get me rolling would be good! 😊

I’m not much of a ‘finisher’ and have a huge hobby graveyard BUT I am currently cooking potatoes I grew myself and I am feeling very pleased with myself!

And yes, in spite of the fact some of the potatoes were no bigger than my thumbnail 🤣

Has anyone else got ELO lyrics looping in their head every time they’re on this app?

Hey there Mr Blue ☀️

I can’t decide if I like the blue wall paint or the lithographs more. I wish our adverts looked more like this now; there was one which I think might have spurred modern ads - huge, advertising bikes (allegedly), but in the whole image, there was just a pair of handlebars innocuously in the corner.

#EduSky what routines and events do you have in place through summer and term 1 for new starters are your school or college?

With GCSE results published this week, I’m thinking about the most useful ways to cultivate that all important sense of belonging with P16 learners ✨
