Bear with me, I anticipate your disagreement. There is a clear pattern to the advice given to those who want to press back against rising racism. What it boils down to is that if you point out that racism is often being dressed up as “legitimate concerns” you will alienate people. /1

Frustrating because:

1. There is no writing test in primary

2. If we are to avoid test preparation, maybe be a little less pedantic with acceptable answers in tests like the reading test. That way teachers won’t feel under pressure to focus on the minutiae of possible (in)correct responses.

We name our cohorts after birds. So when they are named in reception, that stays with them throughout school. Makes tracking, document storage and other admin so much easier and gives them a sense of team identity.

Thundercats remains the best intro to any TV program ever. I listen to it regularly and always share it with pupils in my classes!

There are quite a few compilations of these on YouTube that are quite easy to get lost in!

My new book, Primary Reading Simplified, is released this Monday.

Briefly, I'd like to explain why it exists, who I think will find it useful and where you can find it.

In the 80s there were still a lot of 5 digit phone numbers in the area I lived. We used to call 54321 and shout 'blast off' at whoever answered. If you had that number in the Norwich area at that time, it was me/us and I'm very sorry.

Have just finished rewriting the overview for a weekly picturebook assembly which focuses on equality, diversity and inclusion. It's still a work in progress but please feel free to use and adapt. All shares appreciated! The link is on my Padlet: padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...

Hell wanted - hello fellow BlueSky peeps! I’m starting a secondment in September as acting head of a very small school. Does anyone have any advice or literature about the important things I need to focus on in my first few days? Some whole school assembly ideas to get me rolling would be good! 😊

Hi Folks! 👋 Happy to be here - I’ve heard lots of positive things so far. I’m @elchappo1982 on the one that must not be named. I’m a deputy head teacher, just about to start secondment as acting head for a term in September. Please give me a repost so I can connect with fellow peaceful people! 🙏
