I can barely be arsed at this point. Profile to come? I just miss my people from the smoking, bird-shaped crater who didn't move over to Mastodon.

elizarde/k2cuss2/EElliottKnits, in case you're wondering who the latest weirdo who followed you is.

I read a lot of newsletters and whatever about the tech industry and finance and labour and it consistently annoys me that the majority of people writing about this loudly are dudes. recommend me your favourite tech/finance/work blogs and newsletters written by not dudes please!!

"I should put together the cat tree this evening!" I said. Which is how three hours later we have a new vacuum cleaner. #ADHDlife

(In case you're wondering: Before new tree->vacuum mess from old tree->2 hr rabbit hole on how to fix vacuum->it's broken->Black Friday sales are on->new vacuum)

Reconciliation strengthens BC’s economy and our communities.

We reject racist, anti-indigenous rhetoric — and we’ll continue working in true partnership with First Nations to deliver jobs, certainty and prosperity for all British Columbians.

Back in university, tired of being asked what on Earth I planned to do w/ a Comp. Lit. degree (& explaining that job training was not the function of an Arts degree), I came up with:

New fridge on Tuesday! In the meantime, I'm trying to come up with dinner ideas that use all of a given perishable (e.g. veg, dairy) & won't generate leftovers doomed to slowly turn to poison in our current, not-quite-cold-enough fridge. This is rather more difficult than I expected.

Reader, it was so good that I bought the book.
I've removed the paywall permanently from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager, told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you won't...

The Village Message Board
Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

I may not have done all the chores I intended to, but we did manage to eat all the pears during their 36 hour window of perfection, so I'll call today a win.

Had a 'we're gonna live in this rental for the foreseeable so why not fix the things that annoy us' moment: Our basic, rental apt. standard fridge that is an awkward PITA to use is finally dying. The landlord will replace it with the same, so I proposed that we get one we want & cover the difference

Since it's come up today, here's a knitting chart-reading tip: In some stranded colourwork charts, you have sections of several stitches of the same colour. These can be a flow-breaking PITA to count, so some charting programs will add the number of stitches in the middle of each stretch, like so:

Been a while since I did a charity stream on Twitch, but I'm feeling the urge again. Tomorrow (Sunday) 11 am to 2 pm Eastern I'll be playing "The Long Dark" -- an old game but a new fave, to benefit NY Common Pantry. Join me for giveaways and (probably) horrible death! tilt.fyi/YVoFdn7Efo

Seconded.
If you like a little Kafka with your LeCarré and a pinch of Philip K. Dick in your Agatha Christie, you should read the Fractured Europe books
So it’s the tenth birthday of Midnight, a book that was nearly but not quite a lot of things. Happy birthday, little book. Still looking good.

I just got back from a walk. While I was walking through the park, a little white boy and his father flagged me down from the very other end of the park. Now to be fair, I have on my hat on, so I’m easy to spot lol. The little boy drew me this. A month ago. He has been waiting to see me again.

Delighted to figure out an easy solution to a boss fight that was handing me my ass, and there's no-one I can brag to (apart from BOP) who'd be remotely interested. Woe.

(I'd post to a forum for the game, but I don't want my little balloon deflated with 'Well, of course, Captain Obvious!')

In my 40s, some younger ♀️friends asked for advice. "Find your power somewhere other than your looks. You're attractive by society's standards now & that feels powerful. It fades fast. If that's what you've leaned on, you'll be lost. You're smart, you do interesting things. Find your power in that."
I mean, same, but this is why I invested heavily in having a sparkling personality
*Other* people my age continue to be beautiful, which is lovely.

I, however, am aging like Dorian Gray’s portrait.

Tonight, I spent the evening with good friends, being fed casserole, discussing the revolution (specifically as it relates to the postal service + the drug crisis), and admiring the Hallowe'en costume one friend sewed for another friend.

This shit feeds the soul & always worth doing.

One of the big dexterity tests for Dad today (who underwent SURPRISE! trepanation last night) was calling up a website on his phone to show me. It was for a local activist org, and he thought I might like to see their emails, too. A+ for dexterity, but also A++ for Dad joining the revolution
