They don't even care.

That's another piece I deal with.

There is a similar issue with indie bookstores being seen as friends versus indie presses viewed as adversaries.

Don't come at me to scold; I'm too tired and have been sad for too long.

But I'll be around when my insights are valued in places I can feel safe.

Meanwhile, back to books.

For a tiny press to do enough books per year to get that writer buzz requires either limiting acquisition to authors who cause their own big buzz, or makes putting the needed amount of time and resource into each book real difficult.

Both of those strains hurt writers, in the end.

What if the bad thing I actually did was not follow guidelines to boost BIPOC art but not cross the line of shifting power or causing discomfort or risk.

Because that's what it was.

And maybe if a long list of Ignyte winners have boosted this project, they know that. Or - trust Zukiswa on it.

If people won't advocate, per their own confirmation, for Palestinian humanity or African art or other global projects simply because I am involved on a volunteer, non-financial basis, why are they still getting so much support?

Could you please ask yourself? The few who are still here, anyway?

I urge you to think through these questions. And I'm not saying force people to be better or boost, I'm saying once you see how they're operating, why is everyone supporting them? Protecting them?

- As importantly, that's what I've been saying needs to change. We have a culture being controlled by privileged writers who can't even imagine boosting a small business if you don't or won't get something out of it.
