But it's also good to remember that we are denying space to *living* artists when we give space to dead bigots instead, too.

Every time we perform a Wagner opera, that's another opera by someone who wasn't an antisemitic monster that we're *not* performing.

I do agree that the stakes are higher for living artists.

What law would apply here?

The worst unforced error I've ever seen the Democrats commit. This is a slap in the face and there need to be consequences.

Schumer needs to step down. In no uncertain terms. If the rest of the Senate does not acknowledge this, you are complicit.

Richard Wagner wrote not one but *two* hideously antisemitic invectives because he was so angry at Meyerbeer's opera successes. And today we reward Wagner while Meyerbeer languishes. Why?

When people start to defend talented people who are also moral monsters, I like to remind them that this really is all a zero-sum game, and for every talented monster there are dozens, hundreds, or thousands of talented *non*-monsters who were denied the opportunities those monsters enjoyed.

They did their part. It's just that their part has nothing to do with us and everything to do with helping rich people.

... you're a party that invites saboteurs in to make sure the party never shows up to fight for the change that people harmed by the status quo need."

Why can't they just fire her?
