I suppose I'd better re-introduce myself.

I'm Kevin. I write a less than reverent blog called "Economy Class and Beyond" (and in the past, GhettoIFE).

As well as that, I am part of #TeamNHS, helping in the world of Information Technology for our frontline staff.

And l play with cameras. A lot.

As we all set off on holiday travel a few reminders of gratitude:
- most people travel only a handful of times in their lifetime
- trips many of us go on multiple times per year are once-in-a-lifetime, bucket list trips for many people
- most people sit in economy seats, even on long haul flights

Iberia to add Madrid to Newark, NJ route from March 2026
For those who need to travel between Madrid and Newark, NJ (for New York), there's good news, with Iberia planning to spin up a new route for the Summer 2026 timetable. The new service will operate daily from 29th March 2026, operating between Madrid and Newark Liberty International Airport with a daily service. This new flight will complement the existing two daily frequencies the airline already operates to John F. Kennedy International Airport, with three flights a day serving the region. The new service will operate as the late-evening service, allowing for a business day in either city before heading to the airport for a night flight.

In 2026, Lufthansa will celebrate a significant milestone - 100 years since the founding of the first Lufthansa in 1926. How is the modern-day Lufthansa going to celebrate? With paint. A lot of it, as they give some of their fleet a new look. To mark this special occasion, the crane airline is taking off with a unique “anniversary fleet” that combines tradition and innovation in an impressive design. The most important sub-fleets of Lufthansa will receive their own special livery in the iconic 100-year look: the blue fuselage will be adorned with a white crane whose wings merge into the wings.

Apparently, a longer length does matter.

Under the selected plan, the runway would be up to 3.5km long and require a new road tunnel under the airport.

Great thread explaining all that is involved in a medical emergency. In all my years of extensive travelling I only experienced one medical diversion last year when flying BRU-IAD where we diverted to DUB. The amount of services involved (emergency, fire, maintenance) was quite a sight.
An #avgeek 🧵

If you fly people around for a living then one of the most common emergencies you deal with is passengers in medical distress.

When someone is having a serious issue it becomes a team effort for the crew and our support staff on the ground.

Emirates and Safran to bring seat manufacturing to Dubai
Editor's note: The original article was seemingly swallowed by the publishing platform. We've re-posted it with a little update inside. With supply chains and delivery times having been less than optimal recently, Emirates and Safran have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bring a manufacturing and seat assembly unit to Dubai. The joint industrial cooperation, the first of its kind, will initially concentrate on Business and Economy Class seats for cabin retrofit projects (such as the seatsets for 111 extra aircraft announced today), with plans to expand to line-fit in the future.
