Executive dysfunction, a conspicuous lack of marketable skills, and a paradoxical ambition to build a better society from the ground up.
I don't really think it's a linear procedure. I think that what works in childhood continues to work throughout life: consequences for doing bad things and at least a simple little "thataboy" for doing good things.

For tens of millions of Americans, the observation that "these Republican policies are killing me!" leads only to the question, "Which Republicans do I need to vote for to make this stop?"

"Who does the 'my' in 'My Source for News, Opinion, and the World' refer to?"

"You have selected 'you,' referring to me. That is wrong. The correct answer is you."

Gotta figure this is related to the sentiment I've seen expressed shockingly often, that problems like climate change are exclusively the responsibility of corporations and governments and there's nothing that I, a wee individual, could possibly do to have any impact on a global crisis.

I'm sure some harm would be mitigated by regulating how they advertise and operate. The problem isn't just that it's an app but that once you download that app you're exposing yourself to CONSTANT push notifications urging you to bet on every minor aspect of every game in every sport at all times.

LOL, I legitimately want someone to remake this.

Don't forget he always has vials of semen to offer around.

Cosigned. I think we seriously need to remain on guard against this, because for many people, the only way to rationalize having supported evil men and institutions is by inventing an even greater, more preternatural evil and convincing yourself that to defend against it, you had no other option.

I and one of my high school friends had a signature dance that just involved rhythmically gesturing upward with our thumbs. It's a guy thing.

At a glance, it seems like a form of hibristophilia that leads her to say, "This man is a monster and everyone can see it, but I've seen his vulnerable side and that makes me special, the beauty who can tame the beast."

Indeed, I think a more relevant modern skill is *resistance* to domination. I've stood in between guys who were each 2.5 times my size in order to prevent a fight breaking out. The neat thing is that meatheads will usually back down if you give the impression that their size isn't intimidating you.

"Nor do I aspire to be."

Yeah, every time I look upon gym culture, I can't help but wonder, "toward what end?" I can't see how bench pressing 300 lbs would confer any practical benefit other than a feeling of brute superiority, which sounds pretty dreadful, actually. I feel at peace in my weakness.

The greatest trick America ever pulled was convincing its citizens that communism (an economic system) is the opposite of democracy (a political system), and that capitalism and authoritarianism are therefore mutually exclusive.

I'm far too generationally poor to be a failson, but I do have a fancy degree and no career to speak of, and it's really weird to see people in my own political coalition saying, "mediocre men get the failures they deserve, no structural issues here!" Like they're actively trying to push me right.

This is it exactly. Furthermore, polling data continues to demonstrate that voters in red states support Democratic initiatives in theory, but will only support them in practice if they are proposed, written, and implemented by Republicans only.
