Executive dysfunction, a conspicuous lack of marketable skills, and a paradoxical ambition to build a better society from the ground up.
"Who does the 'my' in 'My Source for News, Opinion, and the World' refer to?"

"You have selected 'you,' referring to me. That is wrong. The correct answer is you."

If you've been looking for object lessons in cognitive dissonance, the past two days have been an embarrassment of riches.

Case in point: This stupid survey that came up as a notification on my phone. No definition of what it actually means to "misuse" SNAP. No follow-up questions about the nature or extent of that misuse. Just tacit encouragement of a thoughtless assumption about *food assistance.*

As certain as Will is that this is true, I'm equally certain that it's not, and I don't think either of us has anything to go off of, other than, "That's the impression that I get."

Yes, definitely. When there's an aspiring dictator in the White House, the first thing you want to do is establish the precedent that you can just dissolve the entire Congress. Very well thought out.

Bluesky is slowly, steadily losing its goddamn mind.

This topic seems to come up periodically on various platforms, and while I can't speak for anyone else, I suspect it thrives on a basic misunderstanding. Not liking it and not doing it are two different things. I don't think anyone is saying "no small talk ever," so much as "not ONLY small talk."

Just watched: The X-Files ep. 704 - Millennium
I don't think I saw this episode in the original run, which is a damn shame because it blends together ritual magic, a zombie plague, and Christian eschatology. It's like it was written specifically to suit my interests when I was 14 years old.

Don't worry, I'm sure there are no credulous judges who would deem an AI trustworthy and allow it to influence their decisions from the bench.

I'm curious if @moviessilently.bsky.social has a perspective on this one.

Bird on a Wire is once of those movies that has a special place in my heart just because it was constantly on basic cable when I was a kid, after falling theatrically.

Burnt Offerings is one of the best haunted house movies and also one of the bleakest, and I might rewatch it today.

Well trick or treat to me! My order from the @kinolorber.com fall sale happened to arrive on Halloween. A bit of a departure from my usually constrained spending habits, as I've only seen two of these. But I haven't gotten new physical media in a while & I feel duty-bound to support boutique labels.

I understand that tone can be difficult to parse on social media, but if you need a sarcasm tag for something like this, you should probably log off forever.
