Once @eastbankmpls.bsky.social's new board is in place, (voting going on now) they should begin the process to get the city to retire the Marcy-Holmes name to better reflect how people understand that piece of local geography.

Prospect Park was part of the original task force that explored this partnership, however their board decided to not move forward with us.

Side story: Phillips used to be part of the Powderhorn Community, but pushed the Council to be taken out and being allowed to form its own community. Then the neighborhood broke into 4 groups (East, West, Mid, and Ventura Village).

Talked with a friend at the city today about these, he confirmed my suspicion. These were created decades ago for data keeping and planning activities for the City, but they've been largely abandoned for over a decade...most data is derived from the neighborhood level. Which.... (1/2)

Still the official, city name for the n'hood, but the assoc no longer exists (merged into our org). Approached it believing the park would be the easiest name to change first (3.5 years, ha!). If we wanted to rename the n'hood, we'd likely have to rename west part as ? and east part as Dinkytown.
