Take a break from the madness and marvel at my dog sleeping. This is her mid-afternoon position. Just looking at her makes me want to take an Advil.

This was a really great episode. Related: Union County New Jersey’s flag depicts a woman being shot by a British soldier during the war. Hannah Caldwell was protecting her son when she was killed.

I love finding older Christie books. This was at Capitol Books in DC. The shop seemed like it hadn’t changed in the 20+ years since I was last there.

Did I buy Mysterious Mr. Quin purely for the cover? Of course.
Three paperback Agatha Christie books at Capitol Books in DC. The first is 13 Problems for Ms. Marple. The cover image has blue text and an image of a broken white plate on a black background with a bunch of objects like a candy cane on it. The middle is At Bertram’s Hotel. It’s a cream colored cover with flower-covered chairs in profile. An arm clad in green can be seen in 1 chair holding a cigarette. The last cover…hoo boy…it’s for the Mysterious Mr. Quin. The cover is blue and there’s a stone bust of a bearded man in the foreground wearing a black hat with a large purple plume. On his shoulder is red, yellow, and green bird whose tail is curling on the opposite shoulder. At the base of the bust is a revolver, a necklace, and a wine glass lying on its side. Finding joy anywhere I can right now. Tonight it’s trying a new nail polish from Essie called ethereal escape. After 2 coats it’s a bit more sheer than I was expecting. But the bright side may be that it’ll be harder to notice when I inevitably chip it.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I bet Roxy had a great life with you. Here’s a picture of my dog hard at work at her favorite hobby, napping.

She is laying on a concrete floor, though beyond the picture there is an empty sofa or a bean bag she could have selected. This photo is from July, so she probably preferred the cool concrete floor.

I walk my dog past this tree often, but it was only last week that I actually looked up and noticed the tree trunk and branches. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before.

Everything is still awful, but here is a small win: my kids made homemade stuffed crust pizza tonight. For a first run, they were pleased with the results. The dough did not always stay wrapped around the cheese, so some parts of the crust became more like cheese-filled caves.

I hope you keep feeling better. This is Daenerys. Fun fact: the rest of the bed had been vacant for a half hour when this photo was taken. There was no need for her to be where she was.

There are so many levels of “I can’t” with this. What the heck did I just read?

His list continues with comments on makeup, cleanliness, perfume, and smoking. His last point is about not being too clingy, calling more than once a day, and being an independent woman, “so don’t let anyone else take control of your future.” It’s a wild end to a list of directives on what women should wear and do. The letter writer says he is single, which is the least surprising thing about this debacle.
