I once asked in multiple forums how to get 14-bit #MIDI working between a controller that might support it (it didn’t) and software which claimed to. The ONLY responses were from people copy/past-spamming me w/definitions of it, not instructions for how to use it. They were arrogant about it, too.

14-bit MIDI CC is almost nowhere in the world of MIDI controllers, yet the standard has been available for 3 decades (the software & hardware that supports it is almost entirely devoid of instruction). MIDI 2.0 has high res CC, and has been around for years now; almost nothing supports it yet.

I‘d happily pay $150-$250 for a ribbon controller that outputs 14-bit MIDI/MIDI 2.0 & CV for position & pressure, but it seems this is asking too much. Controllers offering lesser features cost WAY more and are usually off-market. What’s the problem? Is it a particularly difficult engineering task?

It’s not the point of this story, but it’s worth protecting science as a legitimate process by pushing back against calling THIS horrific abuse of people a “science experiment”. I’m not angry or attacking; I’m making a firm comment to defend legitimate science, which this shit isn’t.

I don’t want to get into the weeds on what should/shouldn’t be called science in the history of mankind, and yes, there was HORRIFIC shit done in the name of science (both by sincere AND also awful people)… 😞 but THIS wasn’t science. It was ABUSE of multiple people under cover of religion.
