Calling it the "Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza" while suppressing Black voices. Says so much.
The Trump Administration forced DC to obliterate and repave Black Lives Matter Plaza. Now Nancy Mace wants to rename it after Charlie Kirk. If it passes, DC residents will have a new place to spit and urinate in public.
If passed, H.R. 6578 — the "Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza Act" — could stir new tensions between the District and the Trump administration over the name of the intersection at 16th Street NW between H and K streets.
